Zinus has been dominating mattress sales on Amazon for the past few years with their memory foam beds. Recently, they have begun to expand their product line to include coil mattresses. I was recently given the Pressure Relief Pocketed iCoil® Spring Mattress to review and below are my findings. Zinus has become the price leader in online mattresses but the true test is how they actually feel.

With recent improvements in roll packing technology and the advent of individually wrapped pocket coils, this mattress comes conveniently in a box about the size of a mini-fridge. Just unwrap and it’s ready to sleep on in a few hours. Below is a video of me unboxing the mattress.

My Zinus Coil Mattress Findings
This mattress takes a little longer to bounce into shape than some of the other ones I tested. As a general rule, the longer the mattress has been in the box, the longer it takes for it to recover so this may be the case for the Zinus since it was manufactured in China. Below is a photo that illustrates sinkage on the mattress.
As with most innerspring beds, this mattress also has good bounce to it. They incorporate pocket coils which will move individually to limit motion transfer. Here’s a few videos to illustrate:
Here’s another video in slow motion showing bounce:
Because this mattress has a layer of coils, it will have more breathability than an all foam mattress. Below is a video that shows heat retention using an infrared camera.
My Zinuz iCoil Recommendation
I think you would be hard pressed to find an inner spring mattress with pocket coils and a foam Eurotop shipped to your door for less than what Zinus is offering. As of this writing you can purchase a queen size for $259!
As for feel of the mattress, I found it to be a little on the firmer end of the spectrum. Firmer than a Crave or Winkbed and not as much hug as a Saatva. However, this is a still a great value and the top layer of foam provides good pressure relief while still getting the advantages of bounce from a coil mattress.
Unlike many of the products that are reviewed on this site that are Made in the USA, this mattress is made in China which I believe helps drive costs down. However it is Certipur-US Certified so it is free of harmful chemicals like formaldehyde.
I think this a solid mattress choice for people on a budget that don’t need a lot of extra frills. There is no flipping require and just based on weight alone, it is a very substantial mattress.
Again, as of this writing, this mattress has received 1,044 reviews and is maintaining a rating of around 4.5 out of 5 stars.
