The Blello mattress, it’s an interesting name, sounds like it was named by a Minion. Here’s what it means according to the company:

Noun: A mattress that promotes a strong balance of softness and support, while encouraging relaxation and happiness. Combining two sleep-friendly colors (blue + yellow), Blello was created to provide everybody with an honest, educational mattress shopping experience.

That said, it has a very familiar feel that will appeal to a broad variety of sleepers. This mattress comes with all the standard assurances, 10-year limited warranty, 100-night trial and free shipping. The pricing puts it in the middle of the pack among competitors but with our 15.1% discount, it becomes a much more competitive price point.

Overview of the Blello

This mattress is exclusively available through their website and depending on where you live it should arrive in 3-10 days after placing your order. It will arrive in a box like this:

Below is a video review of the mattress.  As you can see the ticking is nondescript but is stretchy, breathable and works as it should. This is a zippered cover so it is removable but I would advise against washing it since it can shrink.

Construction of the Blello Mattress

Inside the Blello mattress

Here are the construction specs as listed on the Blello website:

1.5” RESPONSE FOAM

A welcome alternative to memory foam, our responsive top layer is engineered to conform to your body without trapping heat. While traditional memory foam can sleep hot, our durable Serene® Foam layer stays cool while reducing pressure on critical parts of the body. It also controls motion transfer, so moving partners or pets won’t disrupt your sleep.

*Serene® is a registered trademark of Carpenter Co.

2.5” COMFORT FOAM

Comfort and support meet in the middle! Blello’s medium-firm core maintains support as the body sets into the Qualatex™ Foam, with reduced compression to prevent any “sunken” spots. Plus, it’s eco-friendly, hypo-allergenic and 100% recyclable!

6” SUPPORT FOAM

The foundation of every Blello bed in a box is a high-density, supportive poly-foam base. Whether on your back, side or stomach, this layer supports all types of sleepers and will give you a good night’s sleep for years to come.

My Blello Findings

Overall this mattress feels very similar to some of the other major online brands that have 3 layers. I found this to be a true medium feel. Not firm or soft but really medium.

Here’s a picture of my 14lb. bowling ball sinking into the mattress to illustrate the point. Not a lot of sink here but enough for pressure relief for side sleepers.

Blello Sink

Here’s another picture with kettle bells of different weight to show how much sink it offers and how responsive it is.

Here’s a clip showing motion transfer on the Blello. It’s a memory foam mattress so you don’t have to worry about waking up your partner at night but the Serene foam on the top layer is very responsive and mimicks latex in terms of responsiveness but gives superior pressure relief.

Take a look inside the Blello, you can see how quickly the top layer recovers. This layer is also breathable for a foam layer. The middle, transition is more dense and gives you the support you need. Below that is the standard base layer that gives you a solid sleeping surface.

For this video, I used my infrared camera to show how quickly heat dissipates from the top of the mattress. I found it to sleep cooler than some of the denser foam mattresses on the market but not quite as cool as some of the other mattresses that are more intentionally designed for cooling.

My Blello Recommendation

If you are at all confused on where to start your mattress purchasing journey, the Blello is a safe bet. It will truly appeal to most sleepers and if for some reason you don’t like it, it’s a free return. There are plenty of softer and firmer mattresses on the market but if Blello was trying to find the true average of all these mattresses in terms of firmness, they certainly hit the mark.
