Lovesac Review 2024 Update

The Lovesac Sactional is the most versatile couch I have ever owned. It is also the most durable. I bought my first Sactional back in July of 2013. Just recently I bought another back and seat to expand it as my family is growing. Although this furniture isn’t cheap, you get what you pay for which is quality that will stand the test of time and kids.

How Much Does the Lovesac Cost?

A lot! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful, versatile couch and will last year and year but it to get a Lovesac you will want to lounge in for movie marathons will set you back at least $5,000. A deluxe setup will be easily over $15,000.  That’s why it’s so important to wait for a LoveSac sale and study the LoveSac warranty like the bible. Look, if you’re tired of Ikea furniture and want to upgrade to something more adult, this will last from when your kids are in diapers to when they are ready to take the keys to the minivan. So in this regard, the construction and warranty justify the lovesac cost.

Unboxing the Lovesac Sactional

After placing your order, your Sactional should arrive in a couple of weeks. Mine arrived in 8 days after ordering. You will get a tracking notification when it ships and an estimate of when it will be delivered. No need to be present on the delivery day either.

I ordered 1 back and one seat as I am expanding my existing Sactional. Here’s what that looks like in terms of packaging.  The big box is the base and the medium size box is the back and the small box is the cover.

How to Setup the Lovesac Sactional

If you have put together legos, then setting up your Sactional should be a breeze. The video below shows all the pieces needed to get started.

All the pieces come wrapped in plastic so they don’t get wet during delivery.

Sactional Cover

The back and seat cushion can be found tucked underneath the base as seen in the picture below.

Sactional Base cushions

The covers are easy to slip on. To secure them you just velcro them to the bottom. In the 4 years I have owned my sactional they have never come loose and are easy to detach if you want to wash them.

Sactional Side Attachment

The seat cushions are made with quality zippers that will hold up through multiple washes.

Lovesac sactional zipper

The next step is to connect the base to the back. You get the following pieces to do this. A metal collar that holds the pieces together at the middle as seen below.

Sactional Metal Connector

A wooden base connector where the feet of two different bases can attach to secure the bottom. If you have hardwood floors, there are some wool pads to put on the feet so that you don’t leave any scratches.

Lovesac Sactional Connectors

Here’s a look as I am setting up the sactional.

Sactional Setup

Here’s another picture of what it looks like all complete. The blanket in the photo is also a Lovesac blanket. These blankets are super soft, machine washable and even have a foot pocket to keep your feet cozy.

Completed Sactional

There are lots of ways to configure your sactional which is why it is so valuable. If you move frequently or just grow tired of your current configuration, you can switch up the look easily. Not only that but you can also buy different covers.

Below is a picture of some of the many configurations for a lovesac with 5 sides and 5 bases like mine. If you go to their website and choose the number of bases and sides you can get a configuration guide for your number of pieces.

Does the Lovesac Ever Go On Sale?

Absolutely! Just about every month you will find a Lovesac sale. If you are paying full price for a LoveSac, you are paying the sucker price.  The best time to buy a lovesace is Black Friday, Memorial Day or 4th of July. This is when you will find the best Lovesac prices.

As much as you want it, there is no lovesac available at Costco. Costco does not sell the Lovesac.

Lovesac Return Policy

According to the Lovesac website, you get 60 days to figure out if you want to keep your Lovesac. However, you will not be reimbursed for any shipping or delivery fees.

We believe in Total Comfort, and a big part of that is making sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. But if you’d like to make a return for any reason, you can return it by contacting Customer Love to coordinate your return authorization. Eligible merchandise may be returned within 60 days from the date you received it for a full refund or exchange. Custom merchandise, floor model, and clearance item sales are final, and returns cannot be issued. Any shipping and/or delivery fees are non-refundable. Gift Card purchases cannot be cancelled or returned. Merchandise is eligible for a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of the date ordered. Floor models and clearance merchandise are not eligible for price adjustment. Financing terms cannot be adjusted after a purchase is made. Proof of purchase is required for all returns, exchanges, warranties, and refunds.

My Lovesac Sactional Recommendation

I have had my original sactional with 4 bases and 4 sides for over 4 years now and it has held up extremely well. I have configured it different ways many times to use it as a bed when guests come. Over time some of the legs have broken but I was able to get free replacement legs, no problem. Other than that the couch has held up perfectly after multiple washes and kids climbing and jumping on it.

The Sactional is an investment as their entry-level configuration with 2 seats and 4 sides currently retail at $1,700 however this couch has held up longer than any other couch I have owned. We have bought Ikea couches and sectionals in the past but the fabric on them was not machine washable and faded quickly. I also found that the cushions on the Lovesac are of better quality and last much longer. If you have pets that climb on furniture this would make it worth it alone.

In 2021 Lovesac Introduced the StealthTech technology which adds Harmon Kardon speakers inside your Lovesac couch for the ultimate surround sound experience that you can feel and hear but not see. It’s a great way to get surround sound without ugly speakers and wires everywhere. Check out this Stealth Tech video below

Costco Advantages:

  • Potential for significant savings: Costco often offers bundles with Lovesacs and accessories at a discounted price compared to buying them individually on the Lovesac website. These bundles can also include extra items like pillows, throws, or a Squattoman for free.
  • Limited-time deals: Costco regularly hosts limited-time promotions on Lovesacs, leading to even deeper discounts.
  • Bulk buying: If you need multiple pieces for a larger sectional, Costco might offer a slightly lower price per piece compared to buying them individually on the Lovesac website.
  • Membership benefits: You can earn rewards points on your Costco purchase if you’re a member, which can translate to additional savings or benefits.
  • Instant gratification: You can take your Lovesac home with you if it’s available in-store, whereas online orders require shipping wait times.

  • Wider selection: The Lovesac website offers a much wider variety of Lovesac configurations, sizes, fabrics, and colors than what’s typically available at Costco.
  • Customization options: You can build your ideal Lovesac piece-by-piece on the website, choosing everything from the size and shape to the specific fabric and cover.

evel up your lounge time with a premium quality couch that redefines what it truly means to be comfortable. Both Homebody and Lovesac offer modular, comfortable couches, but some key differences might make Homebody a better choice for you, depending on your priorities:

Comfort and Support:

  • Cushioning: Homebody uses a five-layer eco-friendly down alternative foam system with varying densities for plushness and support. Lovesac uses primarily foam cushions, with some softer options available. Some users find Homebody’s cushions to be more comfortable and supportive, especially for long periods of lounging. Advantage, Homebody.

    Image of Homebody Couch Cushions
  • Headrest: Homebody’s couches, particularly the recliner option, have an adjustable headrest for additional neck and head support. Lovesac couches lack built-in headrests, requiring separate pillows or accessories. Homebody just contours better.

Modular Flexibility:

  • Connecting System: Homebody uses U-shaped connectors that are easier to detach and reconfigure than Lovesac’s floor-based connectors. This makes Homebody quicker and more convenient to adjust your couch layout.
  • Configuration Options: Both offer a variety of modular configurations, but Homebody generally has more options for chaise lounges, recliners, and corner pieces, allowing for greater customization.

Other Considerations:

  • Durability: Both are built with quality materials, but Homebody uses sustainable, eco-friendly down alternatives for its cushions, which some may prefer.
  • Price: Homebody couches are generally more expensive than Lovesac’s, although both offer occasional promotions and discounts.
  • Aesthetics: Both come in a range of stylish fabrics and colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste.

      • This is the worst product I’ve ever purchased. Most of the feet will not go into the wood blocks. The pillows have gotten flat and are not comfortable. You can feel the clamps when your laying or sitting.

        • oh oh… i. glad i read reviews…this is by far not the only negative review concerning the clamps and flatness of the pillows

          Reply
        • We’ve had ours for two years, and I’ve never felt the clamps. The back pillows are a little thin, but with a throw pillow here and there, it’s okay. It is HARD to get everything aligned so that the feet go into the blocks. The key is to put the feet in for the base and sides, and then clamp the back/sides to the base, and then clamp the bases together. I watched a YouTube video that helped.

That said, I wouldn’t buy this without a sale (e.g. holiday season) as it is VERY pricey. Also you need the covers – the standard uncovered grey is thin. We bought ours and it came with free covers (limited fabrics) so we went with grey slub. It’s okay – a little thin. The covers are HARD to get on at first, but done right, you cannot tell they are slipcovers.

We went with the standard finishes and really like it. The seat cushions are nicely firm and comfy to sleep on.

  2. I recently bought my 5 + 5 but not sure what I am supposed to do with the two extra pillows. I am using the L shape with detached ottoman… Are they just extra then for another configuration ?

    Reply
    • Yeah, they’re for different configurations. If you’re not using them, store them under the ottoman pieces.

  3. Can you fully lay down on the couch with just two connecting sactional pieces, or would you need a third to fully extend?

    Reply
      • I disagree. I have slept on my sactionals many times and have 5 bases, connecting in a configuration of two sofas and one chair. A couch made of two bases has been plenty long enough for me to sleep on. I have the 6 series, however, so I am not sure if perhaps Yawnder is reviewing the 5 series, which is a little smaller.

        Reply
    • If you position the two pieces the “long” way (they are rectangles, not squares) which is how the couches seem to be configured, you can definitely stretch out on two to sleep. We have a five base (plus a sixth for an ottoman), 7 side/back configuration in an L shape, and I can sleep on the 2 side very comfortably, though I usually chuck the back pillows onto the third seat on the 3 side, and sleep that way.

  4. I just recieved my lovesac sectional. I was most concerned with the filling and was tossing between down or lovesoft. I went with the lovesoft and love it. It has the look of a rounded puff where the down is flat. It is like sitting on a cloud. I am sure both are comfy but lovesoft is puffier. I chose the sky grey velvet and 4 seats 5 sides. I could not be happier. Thank you Lovesac.

  5. Told salesperson that I would be using this couch for sleeping. The salesperson assured me that the LoveSac is perfect for sleep. Unfortunately this is the most uncomfortable couch/sleeping area that I have slept on. My back hurts and it is not comfortable to sit on either. I would not buy again and I would not recommend. I am paying a lot of money on a couch that causes me extreme discomfort. Very disappointed.

  6. Interesting comments. First time I have seen these complaints. I just got mine yesterday but bought it second have from a young guy who was hard up for cash. Paid $1850 for 4 seats and 5 walls. He also had 2 still in the package LoveSac throw pillows and had the LoveSoft filling in the back pillows. Excellent condition and already broken in so I know what to expect. Was only a 45-minute drive and worth it!! I’m loving it so far. there is also a guy in my town who somehow has access to dealer overstock and floor samples. He sells every kind of cover, inserts, accessories all day long. Not dirt cheap but in some cases at up to 30-50% off. Looking forward to adding on!!

    • Hey,
I’m looking to buy some lovesac product but they are crazy expensive. Does the guy in your town still have some? I ‘m looking for a sactional, footsac, and a regular sac.

  7. Can’t understand the bad reviews at all! Love our six seat Love Sac! Are they putting the brackets on correctly? Because we do NOT have that problem! Most comfortable sofa we have ever owned!!

    Reply
    • Agree! I followed the directions, no problem. My only complaint is that I have to take the sactional partly apart to move it even an inch (it’s configured in a 2×3 L shape). Also the little felt bottoms are stupid – they should have the nailed slide bottoms to avoid scratching floors.

  9. I’ve had mine a year now. I love it! My only complaint was the inner zippers broke on the seat cushions a few times, but I called and they honored the warranty and sent me replacement cushions every time no charge! I thought the customer service was very good. I’m not sure how anyone could feel the clamps. I’ve never felt them and my 6ft 4 inch, 250 lb husband with a bad back fallen asleep many times on the couch and never complained and he complains about everything L0L! He talked me into the chenille, which is off white for a family room with 2 college kids, their friends, and 2 dogs! The cushions wash beautifully. I’m 62 and will admit it is a bit of a workout if we have to reconfigure but like I said, I’m 62. Don’t regret buying this at all.

  10. I too am super surprised by the negative comments as well since we the standard foam & the taupe padded velvet covers and have 10 seats & 13 sides and have them split into two couches in our lounge/family room – configurations are what I’ll call the 6 seat playpen style and then the four-square that is used with the Guest Rest kit for an extra guest room — we love the couches & frequently have family fall asleep on them watching tv (and guests that stay rave that they prefer our couch to their high end mattresses at home joking that they should forget having a traditional mattress/bed in the bedroom and instead replace it with these couch modules! I agree they are pricey so everyone should wait for deals/discounts — we got ours through Costco and yes, that gives you a limited choice of initial covers but Ebay (& others) have a lot of those discount aftermarket sellers so I got more covers so I could make the bases dark leather and keep the part that touches you soft. Our old couch was leather and my husband complained it was chilly & uncomfortable to fall asleep or lay around for long movies or sports games – I got leather originally thinking it would wear better and so it would be easier to keep clean.

  11. We have had ours for 3 years, just ordered more pieces today. Ours has been used to make a queen sz bed for guests – used regular queen sheets—haven’t had issues feeling clamps unless literally sit on top of a split in the cushions.

  12. I really really hated putting my 3 seats, four side together—especially fitting the covers to the sides and getting the damned feet into the damned block thingies. I’m 71 years old and managed everything by myself, and it was quite a workout. But it’s all quite comfortable now. I suspect that the person who can feel the clamps doesn’t have them attached correctly, because once they’re in place, they don’t stick out at all.

Glad I purchased this. I live in an apartment with an extremely tricky entrance, and this was one of the few “sofa” options that I knew I could get into the place. I bought it at the 20% off sale, and used their 48-month, no-interest financing, so it was not quite as expensive as it might have been. All pieces arrived over two consecutive days about ten days after purchase.

  13. I’m curious. We’ve recently purchased our sactional in the standard fill after reading many reviews. Love them, but they could be a bit softer. Do they break in and soften some over time or will they always be as stiff?

  15. I had know idea when I spent 11000 on a couch, I would have to build it. Some assembly is understandable but this system does not come upholstered it does not have the feet put on the seats you literally have to build and cover it yourself. You get a bunch of parts and covers and that is it. Not worth the money when you have to work an entire weekend trying to get covers on straight the parts are heavy and difficult to move around when building. Too expensive when you have to build it yourself. I do not recommend. Go to a professional furniture dealer that will deliver the product you ordered not just the parts. The first Lovesac I ordered was assembled upon delivery. This is a pile of fabrics and a pile of parts, comes with a good luck from Lovesac customer service.

  17. Amazing product and have bought 3 couches total. Interesting to see all the negative reviews but I don’t have the issues they’re claiming regarding feeling clamps, feet not aligning or cushions being too wimpy/thin. I wonder if some of the issues are folks not assembling things correctly. Normal couches haven’t lasted nearly as long for cushion strength or fabric durability. Highly recommend if you can afford them. Oh, one true downside is that you do need a sleep kit to sleep on them. That is true that you’ll feel the strong wood support areas if you place lota of weight between the bases. I’m 240lbs and it isn’t comfortable but doesn’t kill me. Never an issue overall though because I shift to one side or the other given the large base size.

  18. Worst most expensive sofa ever. Would not recommend this product to anyone. I was so excited when we purchased this uncomfortable sofa. It looks good and sits horrible. The leg area is to short, the backs are to short and the pillows are hard. Wish I would have spent half the money for a far better, more comfortable sofa. We did not return it because the time escaped us and we were kind of waiting for the cushions to soften but that never happened. Do not waist your money on Lovesac.

  19. We recently bought 8 seats and 10 backs. At first it is uncomfortable, we ordered the upgraded pad and fabric. The cushions on the seats have a way of pushing you forward but seem to be breaking in. The backs are fine. I’m 6’-7” and the deep seats are nice. It was a piece of cake to put it together in fact we’ve already taken it apart to switch the rug under it and went back together even faster. I really like the surround system but now our charging pads have quit working. It’s been about 30 days. We’ll see how their customer service is. The sales rep. in the Corte Madeira store was very helpful and took his time with my wife and I to explain all the options. His name was Mark.

    • Agree! I followed the directions, no problem. My only complaint is that I have to take the sactional partly apart to move it even an inch (it’s configured in a 2×3 L shape). Also the little felt bottoms are stupid – they should have the nailed slide bottoms to avoid scratching floors.

  8. Lovesac does not provide customer service for problem items. Do not buy unless you want damaged items that will not be replaced.

  14. i understand being able to change seat and back cushion covers f or a different color , but what about the base? does it have a remove able cover as well?

  16. I highly recommend completing a marathon training course to prepare for assembling a 6 + 8 sactional. It is ridiculous.
