Loom & Leaf Mattress Review – 13 Tests and Reasons it’s Like Sleeping on a Cloud!

Loom and Leaf Mattress Review | Sleeping in a Cloud! 1

What is the Loom and Leaf Mattress?

The Loom and Leaf mattress was introduced in 2015 by the Saatva company, which is known for producing high-quality luxury mattresses. Saatva was founded in 2010 and quickly gained a reputation for making high-end mattresses that were sold online at a lower cost than traditional brick-and-mortar retailers.

The Loom and Leaf mattress was designed to provide a luxury memory foam option for customers who preferred the feel of memory foam but didn’t want to sacrifice the support of a traditional innerspring mattress. The Loom and Leaf mattress features multiple layers of memory foam and a cooling gel layer to help regulate body temperature while sleeping.

One of the unique aspects of the Loom and Leaf mattress is that it is designed to be environmentally friendly. The foam used in the mattress is made using renewable plant-based materials, and the manufacturing process is designed to be sustainable.

Since its introduction, the Loom and Leaf mattress has received positive reviews from customers and industry experts alike. In 2016, the Loom and Leaf mattress was named the “Best Memory Foam Mattress”

Today, the Loom and Leaf mattress remains a popular choice for customers looking for a high-quality, eco-friendly memory foam mattress.

The Loom and Leaf mattress is a relatively new memory foam mattress on the market that was developed by the makers of Saatva.  I received a free Loom & Leaf mattress to review. After a few nights on this bed, I am very impressed. What struck me about this mattress is just how substantial it is.

Ordering the Loom and Leaf Mattress

The Loom and Leaf mattress ordering process is slightly different than ordering a typical bed in a box mattress. That’s because this mattress does not come in a box. Instead, you first enter your zip code to determine if it can be delivered to your area. Chances are this is not a problem. You can then choose your size of the mattress as well as if you want a box spring or not. If you already have an adequate box spring or slats, this is not necessary. If in doubt about the integrity of your existing support, I would recommend buying one since you don’t want to wreck your mattress on an uneven foundation. I had a split queen foundation delivered and it is very sturdy and well made.  Once you place your order you will get a call in a few days to set up delivery. That process is very professional and seamless. You schedule your delivery date then get a more narrow delivery window a few days before the delivery date so you don’t feel tethered to your house all day. The moving company even called me 15 minutes before arrival which was a nice courtesy. If you like, Loom and Leaf can even haul away your old mattress.

How Much Does the Loom and Leaf Mattress Cost?

The cost of the Loom and Leaf mattress varies depending on the size of the mattress. Here are the current prices for the Loom and Leaf mattress in each size:

-Twin: $849

-Twin XL: $1,099

-Full: $1,599

-Queen: $1,799

-King: $2,199

-California King: $2,199

It’s worth noting that these prices are subject to change and may vary depending on promotions or discounts that are available. Additionally, Saatva offers a 365-night trial period for the Loom and Leaf mattress, as well as a 15-year warranty.

My Loom and Leaf Mattress Findings

The Loom and Leaf mattress is a heavy duty mattress. By that, I mean that it is very substantial. I didn’t feel like I was going to bottom out on it when I plopped down on the mattress. That’s because it has a 5 lb. memory foam base layer.

In keeping with the substantial/heavy duty mattress theme, the Loom and Leaf is listed as being 12 inches in depth. However, with the tufting on top, I found it to actually be a little deeper than that.

Loom and Leaf

Speaking of the tufting on the top layer. I found this to be a very nice feature that you don’t find on many memory foam beds.

Aside from the tufting which adds to contouring, this mattress also incorporates cooling gel that also provides some support but more importantly cooling. The final distinctive feature of this mattress is the convoluted foam. This also promotes air circulation. The organic cotton top layer is a nice touch too.

Sleeping on the Loom and Leaf mattress was so nice. It won’t leave you with any pressure points which means less shifting around during the night. When my wife and I slept on it, we didn’t notice much motion transfer either that’s to be expected with a memory foam mattress. Below is a video illustrating the motion isolation.

Here’s a video that gives you an idea of how squishy and how fast the Loom and Leaf mattress recovers. Very impressive.

loom and leaf reviewsloom and leaf reviewsMy Loom and Leaf Recommendation

The Loom and Leaf is a very well made and extremely comfortable mattress. It easily holds its own against the top of the line store brands. Loom and Leaf offers a 75 day trial period. If you don’t like it you can return it for a full refund and won’t be tied to store credit.  I recommend this mattress for all types of sleepers. I get asked for recommendations for mattresses for heavy people. I am over 200 lbs and didn’t bottom out the mattress while jumping on it. It is substantial enough for a heavy couple that wants to get adequate support. If you are looking for the best mattress for heavy people, this is it! Definitely, give the Loom and Leaf some serious consideration as your next luxury mattress. Shop Loom & Leaf Here.

Looking at other Loom and Leaf Reviews, I have found that they consistently seem to score this a little on the firmer side. I would say any Loom and Leaf reviews that rank this as softer may not have as much context reviewing other mattresses.

Please note that Loom and Leaf does not offer coupon codes. They always advertise the lowest price.

Loom & Leaf or Big Fig. Which is Better for Heavy People?

  1. Big Fig: The Big Fig mattress is specifically designed for larger individuals. It has a hybrid construction combining high-density foams with innerspring support. This design offers a high level of support and durability. It also features a cooling technology, reinforced edges for strong edge support, and a foundation designed to support five times the weight of a standard foundation. It’s firmer than average, which is often beneficial for heavier people who need more support.
  2. Loom & Leaf: Loom & Leaf mattresses are luxury memory foam mattresses. They are known for their comfort and support, and come in two firmness levels. The ‘firm’ option could be a suitable choice for heavier individuals. Their mattresses also have cooling properties and good edge support. However, they are not specifically designed for larger people, which may lead to quicker wear and tear with heavier use.

    • More firmness options: Caters to a wider range of sleeper preferences, especially back and stomach sleepers who need extra support.
    • Better edge support: Feels more stable when sitting or sleeping near the edge.
    • Potentially more durable: High-density materials suggest it may hold up better over time.
    • Cooling features: Multiple layers and breathable cover improve temperature regulation for hot sleepers.

However, keep in mind:

    • Higher price: Loom & Leaf is significantly more expensive than Nectar.
    • Return fee: Loom & Leaf charges a $95 return fee, while Nectar returns are free.

Ultimately, the best mattress for you depends on your individual needs and budget.

If you prioritize eco-friendly materials, superior edge support, and multiple firmness options, Loom & Leaf might be worth the extra cost. However, if price is a major concern and you prefer a softer mattress with a longer trial period, Nectar could be a good choice.

It’s always recommended to research and compare different mattresses before making a purchase. Reading reviews, trying out mattresses in stores, and considering your preferred sleeping positions and firmness levels can help you make an informed decision.

    • You mean will it damage the mattress? If that’s your question, no. It shouldn’t have any significant effect on the mattress. The Loom and Leaf mattress uses a dense foam and is very resilient.

  4. What firmness was the bed that you received? I am a heavier woman at 260 while my boyfriend is at 155-160lbs. I am worried that their universal firmness might be too soft for us due to my weight or total couple weight. Can you tell me more about your experience on the bed in terms of your weight?

  5. We had a queen L&L for about a month. This was our first memory foam bed. (Besides the beautyrest that we returned after a week because of offgassing). We really enjoyed the comfort of this bed. I’m about 250lbs and a side sleeper, and felt like this supported me well, with minimal disruption to my wife who is about 80lb less. We didn’t really like the edge support, but we don’t have a big frame of reference. It was something we were getting used to, but I used to like sleeping on the edge. The thing I disliked the most was the offgassing. Again, I don’t have a huge frame of reference, and I have a very acute sense of smell, but this bed also made my eyes burn! Unfortunately that was a bit disconcerting, and frankly just not acceptable. My wife wanted to keep the bed, but our main reason for finding the right mattress is for good health. We have a latex bed on order currently.

  6. What’s the difference between Saatva and Loom & Leaf? Would you recommend a Lull or a L&L? I’ve had back surgery, facing a hip replacement and hot flashes at night. I also don’t want my husband to constantly fell me moving aroun in bed. I sleep on both my side and back.. Thank you.

    • I found the Loom and Leaf to be a little firmer than the Saatva and Lull. The Loom and Leaf and Lull are memory foam mattresses while the Saatva is an innerspring which will have more motion transfer.

  7. I’m interested in the loom and leaf. On the website they compare the medium-firm model to a Tempur pedic Cloud Lux Breeze, so I went to Sleepy’s to test it out. I found the Tempur-Pedic very soft. I would prefer something a bit more firm but not “real firm”. Also I weigh about 260lbs and my wife is 130 lbs. Do you think the medium firm or firm would be better for me? Have you slept on the Tempur Pedic Cloud Lux Breeze? How do you think they compare?

  8. my name is also bradley. i too would like to know how firm the relaxed firm is compared to the cloud luxe breeze. the cloud luxe i tested out was extremely soft, and the reviews all seem to think the loom & leaf is a bit firmer. i don’t quite see how L&L can compare the two.

  9. Hello,

I have been sleeping on a L&L for almost 4 weeks now. At times I love it, but other times I wake up with shoulder pain and mild low back pain. I am 5’10”, 170 lbs., athletic build, and have broad shoulders. I sleep on both my stomach and my side. I think I need a mattress that is a bit softer than the L&L and provides a little more contouring/hug for pressure point relief.

My previous mattress was a lower end firm mattress with a higher end 3″ foam mattress topper on it. I never had any pain with it and it provided pretty deep contouring/hug.

Based on my research I thought the following three mattresses might provide me with what I am looking for when compared to the L&L: Amerisleep Liberty, Alexander Signature Medium, or the Winkbed.

Do you think one of these mattresses would provide the solution to my problem with the L&L? I am also open to other mattresses if you have a recommendation.

    Thanks for any help!

    Reply
    • You may want to consider the Alexander Hybrid (Medium Firm) The zoned coil system will have more give towards your shoulders. You also get the benefits of 6 inches of memory foam on the top layer of the mattress.

  10. Others may disagree, but this mattress sleeps very warm. To be fair, I’m a warm sleeper and I just don’t think memory foam is for me. But if you’re worried about that, don’t let the marketing get you!

I’ve had trouble sleeping on this since it was delivered because of it’s heat. I think I’m going to trade it in either for the Saatva coil or Zenhaven latex.

  11. I am currently looking at the Loom & Leaf vs Amerisleep mattresses. Any comments on the two?
Do you feel one is slightly better than the other.

  12. Hi Ben,
I have been trying to decide between the Loom and Leaf Relaxed Firm/Firm and Alexander Signature Hybrid medium. I’m 5’2″, 215lbs, side and back sleeper with chronic neck and back pain and MAJOR issues with sleeping hot.
I’ve been currently on the Alexander Signature Series medium, and I really like the feel, but it’s a bit too soft. I also get a slight stuck feeling when trying to change positions, which aggravates my neck and shoulder pain. I’ve been considering exchanging it for the Nest Alexander Hybrid. My sister has the plush, which is VERY comfortable, but it feels more like a pillowtop mattress than memory foam.
I’ve been keeping the Loom and Leaf in the back of my mind because it looks so luxurious and durable. I tried the Saatva and I was madly in love with the cover, but an innerspring wasn’t the right fit for me. I had already spent $98 on the delivery for the Saatva I wouldn’t get back, and it kept me from trying their all foam version until I had tried everything else I thought might be a good fit first. Now that L&L has waived the delivery fee, it’s become 800% more appealing.
If I try it instead of exchanging the Alexander all-foam for the hybrid, I’m unsure which firmness level to get. A L&L rep told me to go into a mattress store and try Tempurpedics because the Relaxed Firm is comparable to the Cloud Luxe Breeze and the Firm to the Contour Elite Breeze. I tried all of the Breeze line, and my favorites were the Flex Elite Breeze, except it was a bit too soft, and Contour Elite Breeze, which was a bit too firm for sleeping on my side. I’ve received conflicting info from the L&L reps given my preference results. Some say the Relaxed Firm would be a better fit, but I’m afraid it would be too soft. Some say the Firm because the Contour Elite Breeze was my favorite out of all of them. I’m hoping once the mattress broke in it would be a good fit, but if it’s too firm, out would cause a lot pain in my shoulders.
What would you recommend? Both companies have excellent customer service, and dealing with the Nest reps had made me want to give the hybrid another shot. However, a strong part of me wonders if I’ve had issues with all mattresses I’ve tried because I keep comparing them to the Loom and Leaf. What do you think?
    Thank you,
    Karayah

    Thank you,
    Karayah
