At long last I have been able to review the Live and Sleep mattress. I heard about Live and Sleep a few months back and was very interested in their product. When I reached out to the company to get more info, I heard that they temporarily stopped selling their mattress in order to create an upgraded version 2.0 of the Live and Sleep mattress. I’m not sure how the original slept but I’m glad I waited.

The more memory foam mattresses I sleep on the harder it is to point out their unique features or how they sleep in comparison to each other. In terms of firmness, this mattress is a bit on the firmer and of the spectrum. If you are looking for a mattress such as the Leesa but want a little more support and less motion transfer, this is it!

Live and Sleep is a great company that was started by mattress industry veterans who have years of expertise in memory foam beds. Their knowledge and skills really show through in this mattress.

There’s nothing special and nothing complicated about the ordering process. You can expect your mattress to arrive about a week after placing your order. You get tracking info just like all the other companies and its very seamless.

The Live and Sleep mattress comes in a nondescript box which is fine because I don’t intend to sleep in or on the box. Having a fancy box  is a nice touch but it comes at a cost.

What’s this? Free swag! OK that makes up for the box.

Here’s what comes inside the bag; A nice note from the company thanking you for your purchase, an LED light for your bedside, a sleep mask, although it’s not all that great. Use it on a trip where you don’t have to worry about it getting lost. And finally, a dream journal because who couldn’t use an extra journal?

Live and SLeep stuff

The Live and Sleep mattress has minimal motion transfer. A trade-off of course is that it lacks some bounce. If you have a restless spouse, this mattress should be seriously considered.

This mattress doesn’t sink in as much as a Leesa, Danican or Nature’s Sleep Mattress. Depending on your preference this is a good thing if you like to have a sort of floating sensation instead of a sinking in, cradling feeling. As a stomach sleeper I find a firmer mattress to be better for my back.

I initially measured the mattress at about 9.5 inches deep. After waiting 24 hours the mattress inflated to its true depth of 10 inches. It’s hard to really see at this angle but it is a true 10 inch mattress.

Here’s me squishing the inside of the mattress. Notice that the top a a little slow to recover but is fast by memory foam standards. The base layer is a typical one of the many memory foam mattresses I reviewed, nothing remarkable about it. What makes this mattress special though is that you won’t feel any pressure points and still get proper spinal alignment.

The Live and Sleep mattress is superior to others in terms of contouring and pressure relief. This mattress is firmer than a Leesa mattress but softer than the Eve mattress. That makes it a good  choice for any type of sleeper, stomach, back or side, although I think this would be an ideal mattress for a stomach or side sleeper that doesn’t want much motion transfer AND doesn’t want to sink too deeply into a mattress.

Leesa, YogaBed and others, Live and Sleep has an excellent 100 day risk free trial period.  They ask that you try the bed out for at least 50 days in your house before you return it. If you have never slept on a foam bed, it can take about that long to get acclimated to it and fully appreciate its benefits.

Live and Sleep also gives back by donating part of every purchase to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. So not only can you rest easy but you can feel good about contributing to a good cause. A very noble gesture by a great company. I had a chance to talk with one of the owners and they are very genuine, down to earth people who have been in the mattress industry a while and want to change things for the better.

I look forward to seeing more good things coming from Live and Sleep. It is one of my top mattresses for 2015.
