Emma Mattress Review

Emma Mattress

The Emma Mattress is an all foam mattress that comes shipped in a box. The Emma mattress is made in Derby, England and was recently named a Best Buy by Which? magazine. The Emma is not just a typical 3 layers foam mattress. Instead, they incorporate individual pocket coils between the layers of foam for a more adaptive feel.

Overview of the Emma Mattress

Here’s a video of me on the Emma highlighting some of its features. This mattress retails at 649 pounds for a king size. According to their website, the mattress will be delivered to your home in about 3-5 business days. It comes compressed in a box which means easy transport to your house and into your room.

The Emma also comes with a 100 night trial period where you can try it out in the comfort of your own home and if you don’t like it returns are free.

Construction of the Emma Mattress

Inside of Emma Mattress

Below are some of the construction highlights of the Emma mattress as listed on their website.

Cover
The top cover consists of special climate fiber that regulates humidity. At the same time, it is so elastic that it fits the core of your mattress, perfectly.

Top Layer
The Airgocell® foam provides you with ideal comfort thanks to exceptional point-elasticity that allows one area to compress without affecting the rest of the mattress. In addition, Emma’s open-pored highly breathable material won’t make you sweat.

Coil Layer
Up to 2000 individual pocket springs optimised to balance out pressure disparities and provide the precise support your body needs.

The visco-elastic memory foam that rests within the intermediate layer distributes pressure optimally and adapts to your body’s unique contours. The material is a modern innovation that keeps you comfortable in any sleep position.

Our cold foam supports you where it matters. The firm bottom layer provides the necessary counter pressure whatever your sleeping position is and offers pressure relieving support for your lower back.

The dark gray side cover ensures optimal air circulation, gives the Emma mattress a stylish look and provides traction thanks to the practical anti-slip elements at the bottom.

Emma Mattress Layers

My Emma Mattress Findings

Here’s a peek inside the Emma mattress. Notice how each layer reacts.

Being an all foam mattress. The Emma handles motion disturbances very well. Here’s a video that shows how much the mattress isolations motion. For this video I used a couple bowling balls.

This mattress sinks a bit on the top layer but you get good support from the layers underneath. Here’s a photo that shows how much my bowling ball sinks on the Emma.

As an added touch this mattress comes with stitched handles on each side to make it easy to rotate or move.

Emma Mattress Side View

What I think really sets the Emma apart from the other online mattress companies in England is that this mattress comes with a  coil system. This gives the mattress just a bit more bounce without sacrificing conforming. It also adds a bit more breathibility.  Below is a picture of the coil system. These are small coils that provide extra contouring.

My Emma Recommendation

I found the Emma to be a bit firmer than the Leesa and about the same firmness of the Eve mattress. These are the other two online brands I have reviewed that are available for purchase in England. What I especially like about the Emma is that you get a more complex construction with the added coil system. With the 100 night guarantee you also have nothing to lose by trying it out. And, at this price point it is a great buy!
