Primary Goods sent me a 5-piece set of 100% percale sheets in their special February color, “Lilac Snow.” As of this writing, you can get a queen size set for $179. The sheets come with a 100 night trial which means you get to try them in your bed for 100 nights and if you aren’t happy with them, you can return them for a refund. Just bear in mind that you will pay a $19.99 return processing fee for any product that is washed or used. You also need to pay for return shipping.

The sheets came in a pretty nondescript brown shipping box, and when I opened it I was not met with sleek designs or extravagant packaging—I was a bit surprised considering how many other sets come in over the top wrappings.

Honestly, it was actually kind of refreshing not to have to choose between keeping the packaging to admire like a piece of modern art, and tossing it out. Primary Goods kept it simple with a shipping box and five fabric baggies also known as self packaging, each containing one piece of the percale puzzle. I disassembled the set and started looking over my new purple sleep treasure.

Primary Goods Construction

One thing I did not account for was how close “Lilac Snow” is to pink. Contrasted on a bright white backdrop, “Lilac Snow” has the slightest discernible hint of purple on their website. In real life, under non-studio lighting, it is actually undeniably ballet slipper pink. I know this for a fact because I spent a few hours freaking out over my perception of colors before asking my roommates and sister what color they see. We all had a flashback to the dress that broke the internet in February 2015—the dress is clearly white and gold in that photo, but I digress.

The consensus was unanimous: these sheets are not any perceptible shade of purple or violet. Since lilac is a pretty ambiguous color—lilac flowers can range from light red to dark purple and everything in between—I give it a pass with the disclaimer that unless you live in a photography studio or a glass house in sunny southern California, the sheets will be pink. Don’t get me wrong, pink is a great color, but purple is my favorite. On a side note, the sheets are surprisingly shiny (despite Primary Goods calling them “matte”), which made photographing the true colors very challenging, so please keep that in mind as you scroll through the photos.

I unfolded the sheets and analyzed them closely. Initially the sheets felt a bit rougher than any old set of cotton sheets but Percale is a different weave than sateen and they will be more breathable, also given the weave, percale sheets have a sort of crisper crinkly feel that some people crave.

My Primary Goods Findings

I followed the laundry directions and washed the sheets in warm water followed by a low heat tumble dry and there was no shrinkage, but they didn’t dry. I had to run the sheets through the dryer a second time to eradicate the dampness. During both sessions they were the only objects in the dryer, but for some reason they needed two hours to dry on low heat, which was frustrating. Pro tip, this happens with comforters and all sorts of bedding. It’s often best to dry the fitted and flat sheet separately so they don’t become entagnled which prolongs the dryng process.

The corners of the fitted sheet may look like a pink Victorian era dress, but they sure do grip mattress corners well, even if it does seem a bit like overkill. If your sheets are prone to coming loose at night, these will ensure they stay in place.

I spread the flat sheet out on my bed, set up the duvet, and began testing their signature snapping feature.

If you go with their signature snapping system to attach the flat sheet to the duvet just keep in mind that this is meant to work as a system. If you use the flat sheet on its own, it will cover the top of the bed but it is not big enough to make the hospital corners.

The goal of the snap system is to keep you from losing your top sheet an night. The primary purpose of the top sheet is to keep your duvet clean so you don’t have to launder it as often. If you’re disciplined enough to launder the fitted top sheet this is a good system.

My Primary Goods Recommendation

Honestly, my first night sleeping took some getting used to. You need to get used to the feel of the top sheet being in sync with the duvet. After a few washed these sheet should soften up well and what you get for the money is a good value.

Snowe Percale Sheets Review: Crisp Fresh Sheets from Italy!

I received a free set of Snowe sheets for review. Snowe is the latest entrant into the online sheet space. Snowe focuses on 4 important parts of life, Sleeping, Eating, Drinking and Bathing.  The website looks just as good as the sheets and while I can’t speak to the Eating, Drinking and Bathing products on the site, the sheets really blew me away. In fact, I have had the sheets for over a week before I actually put them in the wash. Why? Because they just look and feel so nice folded up perfectly.

Snowe is a destination for the ‘home’ that’s bridging the gap between mass-market prices and high-retail luxury and quality to bring consumers elegant, sophisticated, and high-quality essentials that enhance life at every stage.

They have thoughtfully designed a collection of home essentials using the highest quality materials in the world. By working directly with the best European and American factories and cutting out the middlemen to sell directly, they’re able to offer exceptional products at a lower cost. The products are timeless, exceptional-quality products made in Portugal, Italy and the US, and are meant to live with you every day.

Ordering Your Snowe Home Percale Sheets

The Snowe Home website is a bit more robust than the other sites I have reviewed. That’s because they offer so many more products. What I do like is that you can get sheet set bundles or buy a la carte.  Once you place your order you can expect them to arrive in about a week although delivery time depends on location since they’re based out of New York. If you live in NYC, it could even be as soon as a few days. They also have an option to send them as a gift to someone.

Unboxing Snowe Home Percale Sheets

Unboxing the sheets was a fun experience. The sheets come folded in a neat brown paper wrap. It sort of felt like going back in time and opening a package sent from Europe in the 1920s. No, I’m not sleeping on the packaging so why should I care? Well, if they pay that much attention to detail on the packaging, it bodes well for the quality and detail of the sheets.

The Co-Founders of Snowe Home also sent a handwritten note in the package. A great touch that just gives the brand that extra class.

My Snowe Percale Sheets Findings

As with all the sheets I have reviewed, I like to wash them with The Laundress detergent. If you’re going to invest in luxury sheets, you might as well make them smell luxurious too. What I noticed is that when I first washed these sheets they were very wet out of the washer. The stitching is very tight so they felt kind of hard and water would pool in the crevices of the sheets. although I have an older washing machine so this could be specific to my rinse cycle. I put them in the dryer and they softened up but they are the crispest sheets I have slept on. By that I mean they are very smooth and clean feeling. You’ll want to fold these or even iron them right out of the wash because the wrinkles will be hard to get out otherwise.

These are 500 thread count percale sheets. For comparison, Parachute has stone washed percale sheets with a matte finish that gives it more of a lived-in look while Snowe is smoother and more sophisticated looking. One isn’t necessarily better than the other, it really comes down to what feel you like against your skin and how you want your bedroom to look.

It’s clear that these are quality sheets and the just feel durable. The tight weave makes me confident I could string a bunch of these sheets together and escape a from a high tower, just like in the movies!

As a bonus you also get little pouches or storage envelopes to store your sheets when not in use. Never store sheets in plastic bags as this can cause them to yellow. These are also made of percale fabric of the same color as your sheets so you never have to guess which color is inside them.

I really enjoy the feel of these sheets, they are very breathable but also have a crisp clean feel. It takes about 3-5 washes for them to really break in but they are very durable and should hold up very well over time.

In comparison to the other sheets I have reviewed, they are smoother and crisper than the Parachute sheets. Parachute doesn’t publish their thread count so I’m not sure the number but Snowe definitely feels smoother.

Below is the cost of the Snowe sheet set which includes a fitted sheet, top sheet, and 2 pillowcases.

Here’s what the same set would cost at Parachute

For context, they are closest in feel to the Frette Percale. A trade-off is that you don’t get the intricate patterns and design that Frette offers but they come in much less. Both are long staple Egyptian cotton percale sheets made in Italy.

frette

So between a Frette and Snowe comparison, I would go with Snowe.

My Snowe Percale Sheets Recommendation

Snowe brings you luxury percale at a more accessible price. This is a new company and they should be bringing more designs to market soon. Snowe sheets if you want sheets high-end percale sheets that look amazing and have a crisp clean feel.

Parachute Sheets Review

Best Everyday Sheets

I received a free set of Parachute sheets for review. If you’re in the market for a new set of sheets, you need to take a look at Parachute. Parachute was created to offer premium quality bedding at an accessible price. They don’t have any overhead for showrooms and salespeople so savings is passed on to the consumer. They exude a laid back California vibe that is perfect for your bedroom.

Parachute sheets are made with long-staple cotton. The Sheets are dyed in a process that is safe and eco-friendly. Their sheets only have Oeko-Tex Certified dyes which means that when you are sleeping in these sheets, you don’t have to wonder if you are sleeping with toxic chemicals and carcinogens.

Their product is designed in the US but actually manufactured in Tuscany Italy by people that have been making high-quality bedding for over 60 years. This is truly amazing since many sheets you now find at department stores are manufactured in large factories in China and other countries.

Ordering Parachute Sheets

You can buy Parachute sheets through their website. They even accept PayPal. If you live in the L.A. area, you can stop by their Venice Beach showroom. That’s currently the only place you can actually test them out in person. But again, eliminating showrooms and salespeople means better value for you. My sheet set which consists of 1 fitted sheet and two pillowcases for a king-sized bed costs $149. Compare this to a similar sheet set at Restoration Hardware which runs $349, on sale!

Recently Parachute opened a showroom in Venice, California. Below is a picture of the storefront. In 2018 Parachute opened another showroom in New York City in the SOHO neighborhood.

Here’s the inside of the Parachute store. It definitely has a beach house vibe. Very relaxed and inviting:

My Parachute Sheets Review

My sheets arrived in under a week and came in a nice package which made unboxing a fun experience.

The Sheets

I received a fitted percale sheet and 2 pillowcases. You have a choice between percale and sateen. Percale uses an over-under weave which gives it a matte finish and enhances breath-ability.  It naturally has more texture to it than a sateen sheet. I chose the percale because I have a set of bamboo sheets that are silky smooth and I wanted to try a different type of texture.

Parachute Sheet Label

If you end up purchasing the percale texture you will notice that they feel a bit scratchy out of the box, but that’s normal. After a wash they start to soften up and it will take about 2-3 more washes for them to soften to their true feel. Since I was charged with conducting a Parachute sheets review, I was worried that I may have to give them bad marks because of the initial feel. Please don’t make the same mistake and make sure you break them in.

I am very pleased with my new Parachute sheets. They feel amazing and you can see the difference in quality down to the stitching. The pillowcases use an envelope method instead of just one opening. This keeps your pillow from constantly sliding out and gives your bed a more finished look.

Considering your head is against a pillow for about a third of your life, you might as well invest in a pillowcase with quality fabric and safe materials. Their pillowcases are large enough to hold a range of pillow sizes.

What is the refund policy on these sheets?

Parachute has a 60 day refund window and provides a return packing slip with every shipment. So if you aren’t satisfied for whatever reason, you have about 2 months before you need to return them. As I said, it will take a few washes before the sheets have their true feel so I would recommend a couple washes before forming a final opinion.

Giving Back

According to their website, Parachute will donate $10 to the non-profit “Nothing But Nets” for every Venice set sold. That’s enough to purchase 1 bed net for a child in sub-Sarahan Africa to fight malaria. So you can feel good about your purchase while feeling good while you sleep!

Where Can I Buy Parachute Sheets?

You can purchase Parachute sheets from a few different sources:

  1. Official website: The most direct way to buy Parachute sheets is through their official website, www.parachutehome.com. Here, you can explore their full range of products and select the sheets that best suit your needs.

  2. Retail stores: Parachute also has brick-and-mortar retail stores in select locations. To find a store near you, visit their website’s store locator page: www.parachutehome.com/pages/stores.

  3. Online marketplaces: Sometimes, Parachute sheets can be found on other e-commerce websites like Amazon or eBay. Be cautious when purchasing from third-party sellers and ensure they have a good reputation to guarantee the product’s authenticity.

  4. Specialty home goods stores: Some upscale home goods stores may carry Parachute sheets. Check with local shops in your area that specialize in bedding and linens.

Before purchasing, make sure to check for any promotions, discounts, or sales that might be available to get the best deal on your new sheets.

My Parachute Sheets Recommendation

If you’re in the market for a luxury sheet set but don’t want to pay department store prices, Parachute is a hidden gem. I expect this company to receive more recognition as consumers start realizing that there are other options for quality sheets aside from traditional channels. I look forward to seeing this company grow and continue to reshape the bedding landscape.

One last thing, please note that their sheet sets do not include a top sheet. The reason is that a large number of people don’t use top sheets and the vast majority of Europeans don’t either. The advantage is an bed that’s easier to make. Also, if you have a washable duvet cover, it can be redundant. Just keep that in mind while shopping.

Parachute vs. Brooklinen

When comparing Parachute and Brooklinen sheets, it is essential to consider the factors that matter most to you, such as material, weave, price, and available options. Both companies are well-known for offering high-quality sheets, but there are some differences between the two that may affect your decision. Here’s a comparison to help you decide which brand might be better for your needs:

  1. Material:
  • Parachute offers sheets in percale, sateen, and linen.
  • Brooklinen offers sheets in percale, sateen, linen, and heathered cashmere.
  1. Weave:
  • Parachute’s percale sheets are crisp and cool, while the sateen sheets are smooth and buttery.
  • Brooklinen’s percale sheets are also crisp and cool, while the sateen sheets are soft and silky.
  1. Price:
  • Parachute tends to be slightly more expensive than Brooklinen.
  • Brooklinen is typically more budget-friendly but still offers high-quality products.
  1. Sets and Bundles:
  • Parachute sells its sheets as separates or in sets, allowing you to mix and match colors and materials.
  • Brooklinen offers both sheet sets and bundles, including their popular “Luxe Hardcore Sheet Bundle,” which includes a duvet cover and extra pillowcases.
  1. Return Policy and Warranty:
  • Parachute offers a 60-day return policy, and products must be in their original condition.
  • Brooklinen has a generous lifetime warranty on their sheets and a 365-day return policy.
  1. Sustainability and Ethics:
  • Both companies prioritize sustainable and ethical manufacturing processes.
  • Parachute partners with the nonprofit organization Nothing But Nets to fight malaria by providing insecticide-treated bed nets to those in need.
  • Brooklinen is Oeko-Tex certified, ensuring that their products are free of harmful chemicals.

In summary, the choice between Parachute and Brooklinen sheets comes down to personal preference and budget. If you value more options in terms of materials and prefer a slightly more affordable price, Brooklinen might be the better choice. If you appreciate a simple mix-and-match approach and are willing to spend a little more, Parachute could be the better option. Either way, both brands offer high-quality sheets that can enhance your sleeping experience.

Parachute Sheets vs. Boll & Branch Sheets

Parachute sheets and Boll & Branch are two popular bedding brands, each with their own unique features and qualities.

Parachute is known for their high-quality, luxurious bedding made from 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton. Their sheets are designed to be soft, breathable, and durable, and they offer a range of colors and patterns to choose from. Parachute also uses eco-friendly production methods, and their sheets are Oeko-Tex certified, meaning they are free from harmful chemicals.

Boll & Branch, on the other hand, uses organic cotton to create their sheets. They pride themselves on their ethical and sustainable practices, which include fair labor standards and eco-friendly production methods. Boll & Branch sheets are also known for their softness and durability, and they offer a variety of colors and patterns to choose from.

Ultimately, the choice between Parachute sheets and Boll & Branch comes down to personal preference and priorities. If you value high-quality, luxurious bedding and eco-friendly production methods, Parachute may be the better choice for you. If you prioritize ethical and sustainable practices and want organic cotton sheets, Boll & Branch may be the way to go. Both brands offer high-quality bedding options, so it really depends on what factors are most important to you.
