The Sleep & Glow Pillow
The Sleep & Glow pillow is an anti-aging pillow for back and side sleepers that promises less fatigued skin, a refreshed face and a healthy back. Its design is quite technical, which is why even though it’s often marketed for its beauty benefits, it also has a lot to offer physiologically.
Overview of The Sleep & Glow Pillow
This pillow is designed and produced in Europe and it has been patented in Europe, the US, and Japan. The company offers a 30-night sleep trial with a money-back guarantee. On top of that, they stand by a 3-year warranty. The pillow retails for $195 on their website.
Construction of The Sleep & Glow Pillow
The pillow only comes in one size with the following dimensions: 22” x 15” x 5” and it’s made with some pretty remarkable memory foam. Every part of this pillow has been made with the intention of ad addressing some type of problem. Even the pillowcases, which are offered in both Tencel and silk versions, have been well thought out. This pillow is constructed with European materials that are non-toxic, safety approved materials that also have ISO quality control system certification.
My Sleep & Glow Pillow Findings
*Important Note*
After filming this review, I realized that I made a mistake in terms of how I demonstrated laying on the pillow. I used the pillow upside down. Doing so can actually cause headaches and further neck problems. The higher bolster has to touch the forehead and the lower bolster, the chin. I apologize for the confusion.
Despite the Sleep & Glow Pillow being primarily marketed for what it has to offer aesthetically, it’s psychological components shouldn’t be overlooked. While it was created to help you look your best it also assists with maintaining spinal alignment as well as proper curvature of the neck. Why is this important? Because our spinal alignment is essential to our health. If our spine is out of whack, odds are other things are as well. The construction of this pillow seeks to address that concern by providing you with the physiologically-correct body position during sleep, encouraging spinal alignment and a happy cervical curve. For those who have already existing musculoskeletal issues, it’s advised that you consult your physician/chiropractor/orthopedist if a pillow like this can adequately meet your needs. It’s quite possible that it’s not the right solution for you.
The method in which it aids in anti-aging is multi-faceted. First, there’s the form (the way it’s shaped and cut), then the material used to create it (memory foam), and then the pillowcases it comes with.
In addition to being comfortable, the memory foam used in its construction is dense where it provides perfectly adequate support but it’s not so firm that it feels stiff. You’ll achieve comfortable side and back sleeping and the way certain portions of it are cut out, it does a great job at cradling your head regardless of how you sleep (keep in mind this is not for stomach sleepers). The neck support, all thanks to the shoulder cradle, is really out of this world.
One of the most advertised features of this pillow is how it prevents your face from getting smushed. There’s just no better word for it than that because most likely, you totally know what I mean when I say it: smushed. The anatomical shape of the pillow helps minimize skin twisting and folding and this works by avoiding your face from directly having to lean too much into the pillow when on your side. This works to prevent sleep wrinkles, morning puffiness and those unsightly pillow marks and creases that some of us wake up with. As an added side note, if you want to avoid vertical wrinkles to the decollage area, you will want to sleep on your back. If you want to avoid wrinkles altogether, sleeping on a pillow that encourages this, is already a big step in the right direction. If you insist on sleeping on your side, using a pillow like this one is an improvement.
The pillowcase options that Sleep & Glow offers are Tencel and silk. Apparently, both have some pretty interesting characteristics that further improve the effectiveness of the Sleep & Glow Pillow. Both also happen to be made of natural fibers. One thing I want to mention, for those who may not be aware, is this: When silk is generally mentioned (anywhere on the internet), satin is usually following along behind it.
While it’s not relevant to this pillow, I’d like to just educate some people (because embarrassingly, I recently learned it myself and it’s an essential distinction). Satin is not a replacement fabric for silk. Silk is an actual fabric, while satin is a type of weave used to achieve a smoother feeling fabric. So silk is the real thing and with this pillow or pillowcase, that’s what you’ll be getting. Our eco-friendly readers will also be happy to know that both pillowcase fabrics offered, silk and Tencel, are biodegradable.
Silk is a natural protein fiber consisting mainly of fibroin (an insoluble protein) and it’s created by certain insect larvae in the formation of cocoons. The best-known silk comes from the mulberry silkworm. Silk has a few compelling characteristics:
- Doesn’t absorb moisture
- Doesn’t absorb creams
- Reduces hair breakage
- Prevents hair tangling
- Moisture-wicking
- Naturally elastic
- Helps regulate body temperature
- Keeps you warm in winter, cool in summer
Here’s an interesting fact about silk from Wikipedia.com:
“The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fiber, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors.”
One of the most interesting things that I learned about silk is that sunlight tends to encourage the decomposition of silk by atmospheric oxygen so it’s best kept out of the light.
Tencel is the brand name of a fiber that is known as lyocell. While it’s technically considered a synthetic fiber, it’s retrieved from natural materials and goes through a lengthy process to be transformed into fabric. The result is a luxurious high-quality fiber. Tencel also has a few intriguing characteristics:
- Made from eucalyptus fiber (which doesn’t require irrigation or pesticides)
- More breathable than cotton
- Hypoallergenic and bacteriostatic properties (suitable for sensitive skin)
- Softer and stronger than most cotton
- Has less of a tendency to wrinkle
- Its production utilizes less land and water than cotton
- Amasses less odor and bacteria when compared to other fabrics
It’s true that this pillow is pricey when compared to more cheaply designed versions but it’s almost not the most expensive pillow I’ve seen. Specialty pillows like this can easily run $200 to $300. I’ve seen others that were even higher. I understand that this may sound insane to most people but to target particular problems, or particular areas of the body, people are willing to spend if the product does what it claims. Specifically constructed designs require resources. But for the money they ask, premium quality is typically what you receive.
My Sleep & Glow Pillow Recommendation
I’m really impressed with this pillow. The quality of the materials used and its intricate construction certainly justifies the price. From the physiological aspect, I’m confident that it can help certain individuals with their neck and shoulder issues. From the beauty aspect, the combination of elements involved, such as the structure, the density of the memory foam, as well as the materials that were chosen for the pillowcase, sound promising. The first night I spent on the pillow, I started sleeping on my back and I woke up still laying on my back. That was surprising to me as I’m totally in love with side sleeping, nothing is nearly as comforting to me. Sleeping on your back, in general, is the most recommended thing to reduce and prevent wrinkles and if a pillow like this can help encourage that, it’s worth the spend. For those skeptical, it may require some experimentation to know for sure if it’s for you but I don’t think the amount of reviews they’ve amassed is coincidental. There is obviously something they are doing right.

XOcomfort Carbon Series Cooling Pillow by XOcomfort
The XOcomfort Pillow is real materials science brought to bedding. It’s a customizable shredded memory foam pillow designed for all types of sleepers. Unlike other cooling pillows, the XOcomfort pillow is not cool to the touch, meaning that you can “stay cool” without feeling cold. The secret is within the actual foam itself.
Overview of the XOcomfort Pillow
XOcomfort provides engineered foam products designed to increase comfort. It’s currently used in beds and pillows but is expected to be introduced to other comfort surfaces. It’s built with heat channels which move heat away from the body allowing for easier sleep and relaxation.
The company is currently offering $20 off their pillow (in Queen size) if you follow the link to their Amazon Product Page directly from their website. The pillow normally retails for $69.99. Also, because it’s a Prime item, Amazon Prime members are able to get this pillow with free 2-day shipping. The company guarantees deep and restorative sleep or your money back within 30 days of purchase.
Construction of the XOcomfort Pillow
This may seem minuscule to some people but one nice thing about this pillow is the option in terms of size. Many pillows come in just a single standard size but in the case of the XOcomfort pillow, it’s available in Standard, Queen and King sizes. The depth of their pillows is about 6 inches but because this is a customizable pillow, that can change based on whether or not you choose to remove any foam from it.
Dimensions for the pillow are as follows:
Standard: 20 inches x 26 inches
Queen: 20 inches x 30 inches
King: 20 inches x 36 inches
The actual foam itself is CertiPUR-US certified. This is a not-for-profit organization that certifies foam based on their standards for content, emissions and durability. There are 6 requirements that need to be met to receive CertiPUR-US certification. They are:
- Made without ozone depleters
- Made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris) flame retardants
- Made without mercury, lead and heavy metals
- Made without formaldehyde
- Made without prohibited phthalates
- Low emission (low VOCs)
My XOcomfort Pillow Findings
I did experience some off-gassing with this pillow so be sure to let it BREATHE. As for the foam itself, it’s certainly interesting. The pillow contained shredded, cross-chopped, cooling memory foam. It’s incredibly soft to the touch and feels so light but when you’re laying on a pillow full of it, it’s actually quite supportive and a bit on the firmer side. The pillowcase also feels soft and I was happy to see that the actual foam itself was contained in a seperate layer, made of a light, opaque and breathable material. Everything looks like it’s of quality. The fabrics, zipper and foam itself all look top-notch. Also for a clean freak, it’s so nice that I don’t need to remove each piece of foam just to wash the pillowcase. God bless! Laying on the pillow, I would have to say that I found it incredibly supportive. As a side-sleeper, I felt it supported that gap between the head and neck really quite nicely.
You can access the inside of the pillow with its zippered cover.
The XOcomfort pillow is created by the same people behind XOcomfort™ Cooling Technology and XOnano Smartfoam™. The XOcomfort pillow is what utilizes their cooling technology, while their smartfoam is a component of another entirely different project and endeavor. You can learn more about that here: https://xonanosmartfoam.com
XOnano Smartfoam is defined as: “an impact sensing technology that can be used to measure the magnitude of impacts in real time. The foam is engineered to create electricity when impacted which correlates to the impact magnitude.” This type of sophisticated smart foam allows data to be collected by way of technologically advanced nano-particles that are much smaller and less complex than sensors currently on the market. They create foam that is impact sensing, pressure sensing, and thermal regulating.
The inventor behind Smartfoam™ is Jake Merrell, who actually sold one of his companies to go back to school to become an engineer. XOnano Smartfoam™ is the commercialization of his Doctoral research at Brigham Young University. Initially, the smartfoam he developed was designed to better address concussions and head injuries that were common among young football athletes. For example, by measuring the impact, a coach could more easily decide whether or not a player should seek medical attention. XOnano is seeing a lot of application in the sports industry and its use will continue to expand into other markets.
You can watch the video below to learn more:
XOnano Smartfoam™ partnered with Rogers Corporation (NYSE:ROG) in Feb of 2018. Rogers Corporation is an electronics industry company and a global leader in engineered materials that power, project and connect the world. The announcement of this partnership was published on the Rogers Corp website itself, further amplifying its significance.
Many companies in the sleep industry say their products are “designed by real engineers” and so on and so forth but I sometimes wonder the validity behind those types of statements. More often than not, it can be difficult to find all the information you’re looking for but I’m happy to say that the company and the people within it are the real deal. If a public company like the Rogers Corporation is confident in them than how can I not be?
My XOcomfort Pillow Recommendation
Because this is a pillow that would require some time before I can report on it’s cooling properties, keep their 30 day guarantee in mind. While I do tend to sleep hot, that’s not the case every night so it varies. Many online reviews show that people are absolutely ecstatic about this thing but as with everything there are some exceptions. On another side note, if you find you’ve tried many cooling pillows but still aren’t seeing a difference, consider whether or not your mattress and/or your bed sheets, blankets, and comforters are conducive to cooler sleep. They might not be.
The XOcomfort pillow was developed by a startup with REAL promise for this venture and beyond. This isn’t just a company that purchases white label pillows from a manufacturer in China. They engineer their own products and the potential of their inventions is staggering.

Domus Pillow by Urban Bloom
The Domus Pillow is the best selling pillow of the Urban Bloom line. It’s straightforward, ergonomic, ideal for any sleep style and comes with just enough subtle features that give it a super modern and lux feel. The company’s personally engineered memory foam is so interesting to the touch that it’ll blow your mind. All of this is wrapped up in a cool grey removable hypoallergenic cover with lovely leather detailing to keep your level of sleep as healthy as possible. The Domus Pillow comes with a 10-year warranty and a 90-Day Sleep On Us Satisfaction Guarantee.
Overview of the Domus Pillow
The actual memory foam pillow is accessible from the pillowcase so you’re a zipper pull away from exploring what the foam is really all about. It’s a single piece of foam so there is nothing messy to fear, which is a big plus. Sometimes a non-customizable/changeable pillow can really be much more preferable, not to mention stress-free.
This entire package deal of pillow is designed to help you sleep as COOL as possible but obviously, not ice cold :). There are a few ways that the Domus Pillow manages its temperature regulation. The first step is thanks to its foam core that provides consistent pressure distribution that allows for supportive sleep by way of pressure point relief. The density of the memory foam is quite interesting. You really have to touch it to understand it.
In addition to the actual density of the pillow is how cleverly Urban Bloom has addressed breathability. They have designed and drilled actual holes through the memory foam pillow, to the point where you can stick your finger from one end of the pillow through the other. These are dispersed all around the pillow and while it shows taking the concept of breathability pretty literally, what wiser way to do so but in exactly this manner? When you squeeze the pillow you can really hear the air traveling through these open spaces. The following element that also aids in a cooling experience is the extra wide mesh gusset within the pillowcase. This creates an additional passive airway channel thus aiding in further heat dispersion. A mesh gusset is also a huge plus for side sleepers, as it really helps to bridge the distance between one’s ear and shoulder.
Construction of the Domus Pillow
While the Domus Pillow comes in only one size, I think it’s quite honestly the perfect size. It’s not too big or too small, it is quite literally just right. It measures 20″ wide x 28″ long x 4″ deep. A “standard” pillowcase is 20” X 26” and a Queen pillowcase measures 20” X 30” so size-wise the pillow should work just fine with your bedding.
My Domus Pillow Findings
Every part of it this pillow is washable and I’m grateful a company exists that isn’t scared to address the element of cleanliness because as they say “cleanliness is Godliness” but not just that folks, a cleaner life usually means a much healthier one. I think a lot of people buy pillows and sometimes have no idea what to do with them later; “to clean or not to clean, that is the question.” It’s frustrating and sad one has to emphasize it but there is more to a clean bed than just a clean pillowcase. The Domus Pillow is cleanable both inside and out. What that means is the pillowcase can be thrown in the washing machine (but read the instructions, of course) and the actual memory foam pillow itself can be run through water. The direction is to run the memory foam under cold water until it runs clear and the company recommends doing this once a month.
My Domus Pillow Recommendation
The moment I saw the Domus Pillow, I couldn’t help but think that it looked like the more attractive sibling of the iSense Pillow but let’s be honest, it’s so much more than just a good looking pillow. Aesthetics do matter a lot to me on a personal level, I am a very visual and creative person so I’ll notice certain things others may not but it’s really about what’s past the cover that impressed me. I think your life will only change for the better when you allow your tired head to rest on a memory foam pillow for the night.

The Eight Sleep pillow is a pillow that you can adjust to your specific preferences. It has three layers inside the shell that can be switched around or removed to get the perfect amount of loft and comfort. A standard size Eight Sleep pillow retails for $75 and can be purchased direct through their website.
Overview of the Eight Sleep Pillow
This pillow comes with a 30 day guarantee where if you don’t like it, you can return it for a refund. Your pillow should arrive about a week after placing your order.
Construction of the Eight Sleep Pillow
Pillow Cover
- Made from breathable cotton.
- Includes sewn-in layer of shredded polyester for extra cushioning.
- Has a side zipper so it can easily be removed and cleaned.
1” Memory foam
- The dense material prevents your neck from bending, keeping your spine aligned.
- It molds to the shape of your head
- Contours to your neck so you don’t wake up pain.
2” Cushion and 1″ Cushion
- The insertable cushions contain shredded pieces of foam.
- They provide the pillow with a fluffy and cloud-like feel without sacrificing support.
- Shredded foam lets you form the pillow to your needs.
- Stays cool at night by increasing airflow and breathability throughout.
Made in China
My Eight Sleep Pillow Findings
This pillow should have broad appeal. When you sleep on the shredded foam side, it feels like a down pillow. I found it to have a good amount of loft for side sleeping. I have broad shoulders and this still supported my head adequately. People with smaller frames can take out the the memory foam layer or the other shredded foam layer to reduce the loft.
If you prefer more of a solid memory foam feel, you can just flip the pillow to the side which has the solid piece of memory foam for a firmer feel.
Below is a video that shows how each of the three layers respond.
Here’s a side view with the cover unzipped to show you each of the layers.
My Eight Sleep Pillow Recommendation
I think Eight sleep has done a good job of striking a balance between a traditional and foam pillow feel. People interested in trying a foam pillow but are still attached to the feel of a traditional down or even polyester feel will be able to easily adapt to this one.
This pillow is very breathable and light for a memory foam pillow. Also with a 30 day trial, it’s definitely worth trying. Most companies will design their pillows to work well with their mattress and this one is no exception. This pillow works great with the compliment of mattresses offered by Eight sleep. Just like this pillow, their mattresses incorporate next generation memory foam that is responsive and more breathable so pairing the two will give you a consistent feel from head to toe.

I was recently given a Tempurpedic Sympony pillow for review. The Tempur Symphony Pillow by Tempurpedic has a slight contour on one side that allows for more cradling for your head. This makes it versatile enough for all types of sleepers. It currently retails for $99 on the Tempurpedic Website.
Tempur Symphony Overview
Here’s a video overview of the Symphony pillow. As you can see below it has a washable zippered knit fabri cover.
Details of the Tempurpeci Symphony
Medium
All sleepers
Standard: 24″ x 17″ x 5″
Dimensions of each individual pillow may vary.
Contoured TEMPUR® material
100% Polyester Knit Cover
Removable/washable cover
5-year limited warranty
My Tempur Contour Findings
I really like that this pillow is has the built in contouring on one side. As most people, I don’t always sleep in the same position at night. I try and sleep on my side but end up migrating towards a stomach sleeping postiion as the night wears on. Being able to use this pillow as a side and stomach sleeper means I can be comfortable in either position.
The video below shows how quickly the foam recovers inside the pillow. It has a zippered cover which is washable.
Tempurpedic as a company has been around over 25 years so they have the most experience in creating comfortable foam pillows and mattresses. They are a trusted brand that have a product made in the USA.
I would recommend the Tempur Symphony to all types of sleepers. People that are taller or with boad shoulders will want to go with a pillow with more loft but for the majority of sleepers this pillow will work well.
This pillow differs from some of the original Tempurpedic pillows in that it recovers faster and sleeps cooler. It also feel softer and you sink into the pillow faster. In the end you get a memory foam pillow that is soft yet more supportive and contouring than a traditional down pillow.

Pancake Pillow Review

The Pancake Pillow is one thick pillow with six thin pillows inside. The idea behind the Pancake Pillow is that you can take out any of the six pillows to adjust the loft to your preference creating the ideal support. This is a very popular Amazon pillow right now with over 242 reviews, most of them being positive. It retails for $79 and is eligible for Amazon Prime 2 day shipping. The Pancake pillow is also an Amazon’s Choice product.
Overview of the Pancake Pillow
The Pancake pillow comes in a nice reusable carrying case. It makes for easy storage and keeps your pillow clean and dust free. If anything, I think this would make a great pillow for guests since they can customize it.
Here’s a video of how the Pancake Pillow works. You’ll notice that the pillows inside fluff up right away and rise like a pancake on the griddle.
Construction of the Pancake Pillow
Here are the construction details as listed on Amazon.
- Adjustable Layer Pillow That Perfectly Fits Everyone! Side Sleepers, Stomach Sleepers, Back Sleepers.
- 300 Thread Count 100% Cotton Outer Case
- Standard/Queen Size Pillow 18 x 26 inches
- Six Soft Stackable Inner Pillow Layers – Custom Fit Your Perfect Pillow Height
- Softest Down Alternative Microfiber Fill. Hypo Allergenic
My Pancake Pillow Findings
This is a very comfy pillow. There’s nothing special about the inside of this pillow though, it’s basically all polyester which is what you would find in your typical Target or Walmart pillow. However what makes it unique is the customization.
Here’s a photo of the 6 pillows outside of the casing. As you can see when not inside the case, the pillows really fluff up! Having all 6 inside the case makes for a firm pillow which you can then start removing the individual pillows to make it softer and ultimately thinner.
My Pancake Pillow Recommendation
At first glance, $79 is a lot for a polyester pillow. You can probably get 6 cheap pillows at Walmart for this price. However, what makes this unique is how it is all packaged together and that you can customize it. There are other customizable pillows on the market but what I have seen so far is that they are either shredded memory foam or shredded latex. These pillows offer a more finite level of customization but they can also get a little messy and aren’t as easy to customize as the Pancake Pillow. Again, I think this would make the ultimate guest pillow since it’s hard to anticipate what size or depth pillow your guests like.
I have found that people are very particular about their pillows, what some people love, others will hate and there’s not hard and fast rule about what is best. If anything, the Pancake Pillow is your opportunity to figure out what amount of loft is right for you. I find that many side sleepers are sleeping on pillows that are too thin and not supportive enough.
If you buy this pilllow from Amazon you get their 30-day return window. You would just pay return shipping.
Night Pillow Review
Recently updated on March 9th, 2023 at 10:23 am
I never thought I would use the term, sexy to describe a pillow but that fits this pillow perfectly. The Night Pillow is a sleek, smooth black pillow with side panels that look like smooth black wood. It is a totally new take on an item you put against your face longer than anything else in your entire life.
Ordering and Unboxing
You can order the Night Pillow direct from their website. A queen size, which i received retails for $150 or your can order the king for $200. You can also choose from different size panel designs as seen in the picture above which is a wood design but you can also get Alligator and Stripe.
Unboxing the Night Pillow is really fun. It comes in a bag with some tags to explain how it works and its benefits.
Upon opening the bag you get a piece of chocolate, a nice touch.
Here are some of the tags that it comes with to educated you on the product.
The pillow also comes with a wash bag for the silk cover to protect it in the laundry.
Without even trying the pillow yet, I was impressed with the packaging and care that went into presenting the product and creating a great first impression. As you can see by the contents, the pillow has more of an adult theme.
Construction
Removable and machine washable TriSilk™ pillowcase
95% Mulberry Silk / 5% spandex pillowcase
Hypoallergenic polyurethane memory foam fill
Standard/Queen: 24 x 5 x 16 inches – 5 pounds
King: 32 x 5 x 18 inches – 6 pounds
Made in USA
Findings
This pillow is a soft molded memory foam pillow with a black mulberry silk case. What I found most intriguing about this pillow is that the pillow case is built in. That means the silk cover is the case. Most people buy white or lighter colored pillow cases but Night went the opposite direction for a reason. Their reasoning is that the black hue will absorb light leading to less disturbance from outside light sources, plus, it’s just different!
Here’s a picture of the inside of the Night pillow:
Here’s a video that shows you how the layers will react with a squish.
Conclusion
I really like how Night is pushing the envelope with their pillow. Sleeping on silk feels wonderful and if it’s not your cup of tea, you can always add a cotton pillow case. However, the appeal of this pillow is that you don’t need to worry about a silk pillow case coming loose, which happens often and it is definitely a conversation piece!
As more of a stomach sleeper, I enjoyed that this pillow wasn’t too thick. Side sleepers may find this pillow a bit too thin though.
Sleep Number Pillow Review

Sleep Number is known for their adjustable firmness beds that use an air chamber to make the bed firmer or softer for you and your partner. I recently purchased a Sleep Number pillow to see how they stack up against some of the other pillows on the market.
You can buy this pillow direct from the Sleep Number website. Mine arrived in under a week. I bought the king size Airfit Adjustable Pillow with Coolfit Foam. I didn’t see an option to buy a queen size. The king size pillow is big and might be a bit unwieldy for people that may want to move their pillow around at night.
Overview of the Sleep Number Pillow
Below is a video of me opening the pillow and showing how it works. You can actually blow into the valve to inflate the pillow even further which I didn’t show in the video.
Specifications
Air chamber for customized firmness
Gel infused memory foam
100% polyester cover
5 year limited warranty
My Sleep Number Pillow Findings
I found this pillow to be a bit firm no matter how much or little air I put into it. The reason being is that the air chamber is a stiff plastic so the pillow can’t be squished like a normal down pillow. It was easy to inflate or deflate the pillow but it didn’t help my overall comfort. Below is a picture of the valve. It looks like the same valve you use on a sleeping mat for camping.
I am mostly a stomach sleeper and sometimes a side sleeper so I think this pillow was too thick for me. I think it would be best for back sleepers that want to fine tune how their neck is positioned on the mattress. As you can see the pillow is gusseted and looks to be very well made.
My Sleep Number Pillow Recommendation
I really wanted to like this pillow but it just didn’t do it for me. It retails for $239.99 which is pricey for a pillow but I was able to get it on sale for $120 which is more reasonable for a pillow with special functions. Sleep Number has a Pillow Quiz on their website which you can take. I bought this pillow without taking the quiz because I was more interested in the technology. I just took the quiz and was given a choice of 3 pillows, 2 of which seem to be better suited to my sleeping position. I have yet to review any of the Sleep Number mattresses but that is on the list.
Disclosure: We aim to highlight products and services you might find interesting, and if you buy them, we may get a small share of the revenue. I have an affiliate relationship with Sleep Number.

The Joy Mangano pillow has been selling like crazy over at Home Shopping Network. In fact, I couldn’t even buy one from the HSN site because they were still sold out and even as of this writing they are still sold out. Instead I had to buy on Amazon. I couldn’t find this product on Amazon Prime so also had to pay for shipping which was too bad but I really wanted to find out if this product was something truly innovative.
Overview
Here’s quick video of me opening the Joy Mangano pillow and giving an overview of its features
Findings
A few unique details of this pillow are that it has memory foam clusters. It also claims to have a cool and warm side so you can flip the pillow to your preference. I didn’t notice any substantial difference in cooling between the two sides.
This pillow is 100% polyester with a 100% polyurethane foam fill. It measures 20″x 28″ wide and 4″ deep.
Here’s a closeup of the baffle edge side. The top side which is show is the “cooling” side of the pillow:
The opposite side has a knife edge:
Here’s Joy describing the pillow in her own words:
I found the pillow to be too firm and too big for my sleep style which is more of a stomach sleeper. I also found it to be lacking in neck support in comparison to other pillows I have tested. Because of this it’s also not a very cuddly pillow. HSN has the pillow selling for $39.95 plus $5.95 shipping and handling. Somehow they came up with a retail value of $129.99. I also had trouble getting this pillow in a standard pillow case and when I finally did, it just looked awkward and out of shape.
Conclusion
There are so many pillow choices on the market and I really don’t think this pillow contributes anything new. In my opinion it didn’t seem to sleep cooler than any “non cooling” pillows I have reviewed. I found it to sleep hotter than the cooling pillows such as the Bedgear Thunder Pillow

Malouf is a relatively new company in the bedding space and was actually started by a husband and wife out of their apartment who were looking to bring quality bedding to the masses. From there they sources some of the best materials from around the world to bring amazing new products to market. Most recently they have launched a new line of pillows.
Malouf recently introduced a new line of pillows called, “Zoned Dough“. These pillows are made of memory foam with holes strategically placed to allow for maximum air circulation and comfort. The small holes along the perimeter are smaller so that the pillow still supplies support along the neck and bigger in the middle so that there is more contouring for your head. That’s the basic design of all three models. I had a chance to review the Zoned Dough Bamboo Charcoal and the Zoned Dough Calming Lavender.
The Zoned Dough Bamboo Charcoal is different in that the charcoal is used to absorb odors. All of these pillows come with a soft bamboo fabric cover that can be unzipped and washed. They have embossed Zs covering the entire case which is a nice touch. I still recommend a pillow case but you certainly don’t need one.
I received a mid loft charcoal pillow and found it to be a bit too firm for a stomach sleeper but would be great for side or back sleepers. It would make for an excellent guest pillow as you can store it in a linen closet and it won’t get a musty smell.
The Zoned Dough Calming Lavender pillow seemed a bit softer even though I tested the same level of loft as the charcoal. The pillow itself is infused with lavender so you get that smell as soon as you open it. You can also buy lavender oil in a spray bottle from Malouf if you ever want to make the fragrance stronger or give it a recharge. The smell from the pillow is very subtle so don’t worry about getting overwhelmed with lavender!
Here’s a video of how to infuse the pillow with lavender. I only did two sprays in the video but later added two more to get a stronger scent. The lavender smell is very pleasant and not overwhelming. I have started spraying my linens with this to freshen them up between washes.
Although I didn’t get to test the Zoned Gel Dough, you can get the same type of lofts as the other pillows. The added benefit to this pillow is its cooling effect.
Below is a quick video of the two side by side. Not sure why I felt that the lavendar was softer.
You can get these pillows through Amazon with free Prime shipping. They come with a 5 year warranty. If you have a memory foam mattress or just want to experience how great memory foam can be, give one of these zoned dough pillow’s a try. I find them to be superior to most all foam pillows on the market as they are more breathable and more squishy like a pillow should be. They contour to you right away and best of all they sleep cool!

The Nest Easy Breather, what can I say about this pillow? Joe Alexander, the owner of Nest Bedding knows pillows! I think this is what most people have been looking for in a pillow. Let me tell you why.
Overview of the Nest Easy Breather Pillow
First off, The Easy Breather pillow is an adjustable pillow. That means that you can remove or add filling to reach your desired level of firmness. Other pillows should allow this functionality but because of their makeup, it can get messy. The Tencel blended material that makes up the inside comes out easily with little mess. I like my pillow on the flatter side so I took out about a gallon sized back of stuffing from it and it was the perfect firmness.
Here’s a video clip of the pillow being smushed. This is with almost all the stuffing in except for that small piece you can see in the video.
My Nest Easy Breather Review
Before this pillow came along, I enjoyed my Savvy Rest latex pillow. It also has adjustable filling (shredded latex) but it got really messing when trying take it out because the shredded latex seemed to be statically charged. It also was a little noisy because whenever you shifted sleep position or the pillow, you would hear the tiny bits of latex making sort of popping noises inside the pillow.
The Easy Breather pillow has stuffing that is more reminiscent of cotton and memory foam and doesn’t make any noise. The stuffing is also softer than natural down or latex or even solid memory foam.
This pillow just plain looks good. The casing has a nice texture and design and the grey sidewall helps with breath-ability and keeping it in shape. It is nice and wide so that you can shift positions with having to move your pillow with you. On a more subjective note, it’s also super cuddly!
As with the other Nest Bedding products I have reviewed, this one comes highly recommended. I would recommend this over Snuggle-Pedic or My Pillow for ANY time of sleeper.
The Easy Breather Pillow was featured in the October 2015 issue of Men’s Journal as their overall top pick for a pillow.

Coop Home Goods Shredded Memory Foam Pillow Reviews

Some of the best pillows on the market are made with shredded latex and shredded memory foam. The small pieces of material in these pillows mimic that of a down filled pillow but without all the allergy concerns. They also last longer as they won’t compact as quickly over time as a down filled pillow would.
I was recently given a set shredded memory foam pillows from Coop Home Goods. A body pillow and king sized pillow. Below is a video of what the king sized pillow looks like out of the package.
Unboxing
As you can see the pillow comes compressed similar to mattresses that I have unboxed. The body pillow is obviously in a bit larger package but not much larger. After I unboxed the pillows I put them in the dryer with a dryer sheet for about 20 minutes to get rid of some of the initial off gassing. It took about 2 days before all the smell was completely gone so depending on your sensitivity you will want to take that into consideration.
Here’s the 2017 version of the Coop Pillow. It now comes with a zipper where you can adjust the amount of fill for the correct loft.
Construction
The pillow is made of a 60% polyester / 40% bamboo cover. It has a nice texture to it and as opposed to a cotton cover has some stretch to it that allows the memory foam to contour more closely to your body. The bamboo is used as a cooling material that wicks away moisture and provides more breathability to the pillow allowing you to sleep cooler.
It is made in the USA with Certipur-US Certified Foam.
CertiPUR-US® approved foams are:
- Made without ozone depleters
- Made without PBDE flame retardants
- Made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals
- Made without formaldehyde
- Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
- Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)
Findings
I am typically a stomach sleeper as I start out on my side when going to bed but wind up on my stomach at some point during the night. I know that stomach sleeping is not good for your health but it’s a habit that’s tough to break. Using the Coop king sized and body pillow in combination allowed me to fall asleep on my side and stay asleep on my side. This is because the body pillow kept me in a comfortable position throughout the night and gave me the same sensation as if I was sleeping on my stomach. It also kept me in alignment as I was able to cradle the pillow with my arms as well as my legs.
Both of these pillows contain a substantial amount of memory foam which means that they are much heavier than a conventional pillow. Keep that in mind if you like to toss your pillow from side to side during the night. Your partner might also get a little jealous if you find yourself reaching for the body pillow instead of them. That said, they are wonderful pillows for the price.
A comparable pillow is the Snuggle-Pedic pillow, also sold on Amazon. The difference is that the Coop pillows have a bit more bounce to them and they they don’t seem to has as much off gassing as the Snuggle-Pedic. That aside, the Coop pillows are substantially less expensive than the Snuggle Pedic which makes them my recommended shredded memory foam pillow.
Updated findings
The 2017 pillow now comes with a zipper where you can adjust the fill. Here’s a picture of the pillow unzipped. Notice that the foam is a nice clean consistent shred:
Conclusion
If you are a side sleeper, getting both of these pillows is definitely worth a try. They do a great job of keeping you in a comfortable sleep position and can be molded to suit your needs. They come with a 5 year warranty that guarantees they won’t go flat and a 30 day return policy. I slept great with these pillows and that says something since sleeping on my side is not my natural position. I think these pillows could help stomach sleepers transition out of their bad habits.
This pillow was also recently featured on Business Insider with a positive review. It is listed as, ” Improved Design – Adjustable Shredded Memory Foam Pillow with Viscose Rayon Cover derived from Bamboo – Removable Case – Coop Home Goods – Made in USA”

Snuggle Pedic Pillow Review

Overview of the Snuggle Pedic Pillow
I have been sleeping on my Snuggle Pedic pillow since last Saturday, February 7, 2015. It has taken some adjustment but I think I may end up staying with this pillow for a while. The shredded memory foam is starting to loosen a little more but I still notice a strong off gassing odor. I hope that it dissipates soon otherwise I may have to go a more natural route. UPDATE, a couple days later and no more odor. Now I’m really enjoying this pillow! It is so amazingly soft. Not only because of the bamboo casing but also the shredded foam makes it feel like you are sleeping on hundreds of mini foam pillows.
What I like most about the pillow is that it’s easy to customize by moving some of the shredded foam around thus making it thinner or thicker in certain spots. It does a very good job of supporting my neck without any pressure points. Last night I had one of the best sleeps in the past 3 weeks.
The All New Snuggle Pedic Pillow
Since I orginally posted about this pillow, Snuggle Pedic has made some significant updates to their product. This pillow is now fully washable, foam and all. I put this to the test and it really does wash well. If you do wash it make sure to wring out as much water from the pillow as possible before drying. The foam can hold lots of water which will increase drying time if you don’t get as much out as you can.
Here’s an unboxing and an overview of the Snuggle Pedic Pillow
The Snuggle Pedic Pillow is the highest rated pillow on Amazon right now and it doesn’t look like that is slowing down anytime soon. As for cost, it is relatively inexpensive when you consider the competitors out there that would sell a pillow similar to this for at least $100 plus shipping.
The Snuggle Pedic Pillow also has a 90 day refund guarantee. That means you can try it for 3 months and if you don’t like it return it via Amazon. Amazon has amazing customer service and it is super easy to return merchandise.
The Snuggle Pedic Pillow gets my highest rating for a pillow that you will come to rely on for a good night’s sleep it is also currently listed as an Amazon Choice pick.

My Snuggle Pedic Pillow Findings
Here’s a look at the inside filling of the pillow. Notice how it reacts when I squish it.
Here’s a photo of the zipper system and fill inside the pillow.
My Snuggle Pedic Recommendation
What sets the Snuggle Pedic pillow apart from the rest of the shredded memory foam pillow competition is that if you find the pillow to have too much or too little fill, you can send it back to the company and they will adjust it for you. Having a pillow where you can adjust the amount of loft is extremely valuable. There may be times where you want a thinner or thicker pillow depending on how you feel or if you suffer from an injury. This pillow gives you that flexibility. It is also one of few foam pillows that are actually washable.
I really enjoy my Snuggle Pedic. The quality is definitely there and you should get many years of high quality sleep you of it.
