Brooklyn Bedding Company Background

Brooklyn Bedding is an American mattress company founded in 1995 by two brothers, John and Rob Merwin. They started the company with a focus on providing affordable, high-quality mattresses to consumers. The company has grown significantly over the years and now operates its own manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona. This allows them to have full control over the quality and production process, ensuring that customers receive top-notch products.

Brooklyn Bedding offers a wide range of mattresses, from budget-friendly options to luxury models. They are known for their commitment to using eco-friendly and high-quality materials, as well as their dedication to customer satisfaction.

Sedona Hybrid Mattress Overview

The Sedona Hybrid is a luxury mattress in Brooklyn Bedding’s lineup, designed to offer a comfortable and supportive sleeping experience. This hybrid model combines the best of both worlds: the pressure relief of memory foam and the support and bounce of individually encased coils. The mattress is designed with advanced cooling technologies, making it suitable for hot sleepers and those living in warmer climates.

The Sedona Hybrid is a versatile mattress that caters to various sleepers’ preferences and needs, making it a popular choice among customers. With its combination of comfort, support, and temperature regulation, the Sedona Hybrid aims to provide a restful and rejuvenating sleep experience.

Sedona Elite Hybrid

Layers of the Mattress

  1. Cooling Panel: The Sedona Hybrid mattress features a premium cooling panel sewn into the top of the mattress cover, designed to provide superior heat dissipation for a cool and comfortable sleep.

  2. Comfort Layers: The mattress includes several comfort layers that work together to provide pressure relief and contouring support. The top layer is made of gel-infused memory foam, which offers excellent pressure relief while also helping to regulate temperature. Below that, a layer of responsive foam helps to provide additional cushioning and conforming support.

  3. Support Layers: At the core of the Sedona Hybrid mattress is a layer of individually encased coils, which provide targeted support and minimize motion transfer. This layer ensures proper spinal alignment and pressure point relief. Beneath the coil system, a high-density foam base adds durability and stability to the mattress.

B. Materials Used

  1. Gel-infused Memory Foam: The gel-infused memory foam in the Sedona Hybrid mattress is designed to provide contouring support and pressure relief while also preventing overheating. The gel beads help to absorb and dissipate heat, maintaining a cool sleeping surface.

  2. Individually Encased Coils: The support layer of individually encased coils provides the mattress with its responsive support and bounce. This design allows the coils to move independently, ensuring targeted support and reducing motion transfer.

  3. High-density Foam Base: The high-density foam base layer in the Sedona Hybrid mattress enhances its durability and provides a stable foundation for the layers above.

With its thoughtful construction and high-quality materials, the Sedona Hybrid mattress offers a luxurious and supportive sleep experience. The combination of cooling technologies, contouring memory foam, and responsive coils ensures a comfortable and restorative night’s sleep for a wide range of sleepers.

Firmness and Comfort Options

A. Firmness Levels: The Sedona Hybrid mattress is available in a single medium firmness level, which caters to a wide range of sleepers. This level of firmness provides a balance of comfort and support, making it suitable for most sleep preferences and body types.

B. Sleeping Positions Suitability: The medium firmness level of the Sedona Hybrid mattress is versatile and works well for various sleeping positions:

  1. Side Sleepers: The mattress offers excellent pressure relief for side sleepers, conforming to the body’s curves and alleviating pressure points on the shoulders and hips.
  2. Back Sleepers: Back sleepers will find the mattress provides adequate lumbar support and helps maintain proper spinal alignment, preventing lower back pain.
  3. Stomach Sleepers: Stomach sleepers may also find the mattress comfortable, although some individuals might prefer a slightly firmer option to prevent their hips from sinking too far into the mattress.

C. Motion Isolation and Edge Support:

  1. Motion Isolation: The individually encased coils and memory foam layers in the Sedona Hybrid mattress work together to minimize motion transfer, making it a suitable option for couples or light sleepers who may be easily disturbed by their partner’s movements.
  2. Edge Support: The mattress offers decent edge support due to the reinforced perimeter of the coil system. This feature allows sleepers to utilize the entire surface of the mattress and makes it easier to get in and out of bed.

IV. Temperature Regulation

A. Cooling Technologies Used: The Sedona Hybrid mattress incorporates several cooling technologies to ensure a comfortable sleep temperature:

  1. Cooling Panel: The cooling panel sewn into the mattress cover helps dissipate heat and maintain a cool sleeping surface.
  2. Gel-infused Memory Foam: The gel beads in the memory foam layer absorb and distribute heat, preventing the mattress from trapping excessive body heat.

B. Breathability and Airflow: The design of the individually encased coil system allows for increased airflow throughout the mattress, further enhancing its breathability and temperature regulation properties. This feature makes the Sedona Hybrid a suitable choice for hot sleepers and those living in warmer climates.

Durability and Warranty

The Sedona Hybrid mattress is built with high-quality materials and construction, resulting in an expected lifespan of 7-10 years with regular use. To prolong the life of the mattress, it is recommended to rotate it every 3-6 months and use a compatible foundation or bed frame.

Warranty Details

Brooklyn Bedding offers a 10-year limited warranty for the Sedona Hybrid mattress. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, including sagging or indentations greater than 1 inch, and any manufacturing flaws in the mattress cover’s zipper or seams. Normal wear and tear, as well as damage caused by improper use or handling, are not covered under the warranty.

Pricing and Size Options

A. Price Range: The Sedona Hybrid mattress is positioned as a luxury option within Brooklyn Bedding’s lineup, and its pricing reflects this. However, the mattress still offers excellent value for the quality and features it provides. Prices may vary depending on promotions or discounts available at the time of purchase.

B. Available Sizes: The Sedona Hybrid mattress is available in the following standard sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. Each size varies in dimensions and price, ensuring that there is an option suitable for various room sizes and budgets.

Pros and Cons

  1. Luxurious comfort and support: The combination of contouring memory foam and responsive coils provides excellent pressure relief and support for various sleeping positions.
  2. Temperature regulation: Advanced cooling technologies and breathability make the mattress suitable for hot sleepers and warmer climates.
  3. Motion isolation: The individually encased coils and memory foam layers minimize motion transfer, making it a good option for couples and light sleepers.
  4. Made in the USA: Brooklyn Bedding manufactures the Sedona Hybrid mattress in their own facility in Phoenix, Arizona, ensuring quality control and attention to detail.

  1. Limited firmness options: The Sedona Hybrid mattress is only available in a medium firmness level, which may not be suitable for those who prefer a very firm or very soft mattress.
  2. Off-gassing: As with many memory foam mattresses, there may be some initial off-gassing upon unboxing the Sedona Hybrid. However, this odor should dissipate within a few days.

Conclusion

The Brooklyn Bedding Sedona Hybrid mattress offers a luxurious and comfortable sleep experience, featuring a balance of support, pressure relief, and temperature regulation. Its high-quality construction and materials make it a durable option with excellent value.

The Sedona Hybrid mattress is suitable for most sleepers, including side, back, and stomach sleepers, as well as hot sleepers and couples who need good motion isolation.

With its combination of comfort, support, and cooling technologies, the Sedona Hybrid mattress is an excellent option for those seeking a luxurious sleep experience. Its versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of sleep preferences and needs, making it a popular choice among customers.

Puffy Royal Mattress Review

Best Soft Mattress
Puffy Royal Puffy Royal
$2,399 (Queen)

Nothing beats the Puffy Royal for the true sleeping-on-a-cloud feeling. If you have any pain points, this mattress is sure to address them.

In this Puffy hybrid mattress review, we will be taking an in depth look at the puffy royal hybrid mattress which is a step up from the puffy lux, also known as the puffy lux hybrid
Whil the puffy lux hybrid mattress is soft, this one is even softer.

The Puffy mattress has been around for over 7 years now and my first
puffy royal mattress review was done when it came aout about 4 years ago.
Beofore that, the Puffy lux hybrid mattress was their top of the line offering and while
hybrid is a good mattress the premier mattress among the Puffy lineup is the Royal hybrid.

While most people consider the task of buying a mattress as a complicated and tedious chore, there are a few who relish indulging in the process of buying one. The primary problem is the plethora of options available to the buyer, making it challenging to conclude. Moreover, there are a host of other factors such as the type of bed for which it is to be purchased, and the kind of sleeper, among others. If you feel the same, don’t worry as you are not the only one. Once you search online, you will be presented with one mattress review after another. Some reviews are from people that have never even tried the Puffy Royal hybrid mattress. This is Puffy’s Premier mattress and truly gives you that sleeping on a cloud-feeling. In this review, we will cover what makes the Puffy Royal so special and why you should consider it when choosing a new mattress

There are a handful of standalone mattresses that break the conventional mattress mold and are worth exploring. The Puffy Mattress is one among them, which has won a place in the coveted 2019 Best Mattresses Guide by Consumer Reports and continues to win awards from top mattress review sites, including this one through 2022 and beyond. There are several reasons why this new mattress deserves such recognition, and a significant contributor to such fame and popularity is the Puffy Royal Mattress.

Many people think that they know what it feels like sleeping on a foam mattress. But all their knowledge and experience start to fade out once they explore the insanely deluxe 14 inches thick Puffy Royal Mattress. This premium bed offers a 5-layer comfort and support that makes the user feels like he/she is lying on the puffiest cloud ever. This is a hybrid version which means you also get all the benefits of springs for proper support.

Puffy Royal Hybrid Mattress Review & Mattress Performance

Your Puffy Royal will arrive in a box like this. Considerably bigger than the Puffy Lux Hybrid box. Out of all the hybrid mattresses I reviewed, this is one of the largest boxes I have opened.

My Puffy Royal Hybrid Video Review

Here’s a video review of the Puffy Royal and all its features. I personally test all these mattresses and we sell the Puffy Royal Mattress along with the Puffy Hybrid and the Original Puffy in our Showroom. On the firmness scale, the Puffy Royal is considerably softer than the original Puffy Mattress.

Construction of Puffy Royal Hybrid Mattress. Is it a Good Mattress?

First, there was the original 3-layered Puffy Mattress, then came the 4-layered Puffy Lux Mattress, and now is the time for the ultra-modern 5-layered Puffy Royal Mattress. The Puffy Royal Mattress is an upgraded version of the previous ones with reflexive pressure relief, advanced airflows, and zoned support for upgraded sleep.

Although an extra layer may not seem like much, it makes all the difference when going from the Puffy Lux Hybrid mattress to the Puffy Royal.

Material and Construction Specifications of the Puffy Royal Compared to the Puffy Lux Hybrid

The Puffy Royal Mattress is one of the thickest foam beds combining five unique layers of memory foam to produce the impressive 14-inch thick mattress. Detailed information on the materials used for the construction of the king or queen-sized mattress is below. In this picture you can see how the Puffy Royal is meticulously designed for superior contouring while still providing superior support.

Unique Comfort Layers For A Sound Sleep

While most premium quality mattresses contain two to three layers of comfort, the Puffy Royal Mattress comes with an added layer, offering the user with the fluffy feel of four layers combined. Each of these layers serves a different purpose of providing pressure relief, cooler sleep, and outstanding support.

The Upper Layer

The topmost layer is referred to as the cooling memory foam layer that is filled with cooling beads that helps in the dispersion of heat from the mattress.

The Middle Two Layers

The next two layers beneath the top layer are designed from ultra-pressure relieving and cooling memory foam. Both these layers have their unique properties that highlight the contour of this mattress. These layers are flexible enough to adjust to the lying posture of the person so that the user doesn’t get a feel of being stuck in the mattress. This dual-layer of foam also helps in regulating the temperature and effective for climate control.

The Bottom Layer

This lowermost layer among the comfort layers draws a massive line of difference between the Puffy Royal with that of other premium mattresses. Even though this unique one-of-a-kind designed layer is made out of foam, the presence of channels and grooves in this layer offers incredible airflow and breathability to the mattress. In addition to this, it also provides zoned pressure support and relief for an extra bit of comfort and a cloud-like feel.

Supportive Core Base Layer for Longevity

The core support foam used for this mattress is one of the best base foams in the market. Not only is the base layer made out of 6-inch firm and durable foam material for the ideal support, but it is also 99 percent more responsive due to its Insta-Firm technology. This innovative technology provides the base foam to be four times more supportive than any other standard base foam used for other mattresses.

Upgraded Cover for the Ultimate Finish

The cover of the new Puffy Royal mattress provides an excellent upgrade to this premium quality product. The plush cover on this mattress is more luxurious and thicker than the previous versions of the Puffy and Puffy Lux mattress, making it more of a comfort layer than just a simple covering. The cover is perfectly tailored to give a premium fit and feel, making it easier to adjust the mattress with the zipper. Apart from that, this cover is also soft, breathable, and stain-resistant. This durable and safe cover is an Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Certified.

What Makes Puffy Royal Mattress The Best Among The Premium Mattresses?

While comfort is the priority of every mattress, there are certainly a host of other reasons why people choose to buy one mattress over the other. Some of the critical aspects to look out for are motion isolation, the cooling effect, firmness of the edges, and the like. The notable benefits of a Puffy Royal Mattress are as follows –

Motion Isolation

Puffy Royal is one of those mattresses that have negligible to no isolation. The excessively thick all-foam mattress absorbs motion as soon as it comes in contact with the bed. This mattress is a dream choice for sleepers who are sensitive to minor movements. Whether your partner is used to tossing and turning during sleep or the two of you have different schedules, the Puffy Royal will eliminate any motion transfer to ensure that you have a sound night’s sleep. Here’s a picture of how much sink you can expect using my 14 lb. bowling ball.

Puffy Royal Sink

While you weigh much more than a bowling ball it illustrates that the Puffy Royal Hybrid is a perfect choice for side sleepers. Even back sleepers will enjoy this mattress. It can accommodate stomach sleepers but I thin they may be better suited to the Puffy Lux Hybrid or the Puffy Original instead.

Supportive Edges

puffy edge support

Solid Edges provide several benefits to a mattress. Pronounced and sound edges offer a glimpse of the quality and durability of the material used for the mattress, helping the user understand the supportive nature of the perimeters. This is what makes a hybrid a good mattress for people that want to sleep right up to the edge of the bed without feeling like they will fall off.

One of my fears when reviewing this mattress is that the edge support would be lacking on the Puffy Royal given that it is an all foam mattress. I will say that while it does sink at the edge, you need to remember that you will sink into this mattress when you sleep so it would take a lot of effort to try and roll out of the bed accidentally. I typically sleep close to the edge of the mattress as do most people and did not feel like I would roll off at all.

Below is a picture of my hand impression on the top layer of the Puffy Royal to give you a sense of the mattress firmness and the mattress performance. If you want a super soft and cozy mattress, this is exactly what you get. Puffy spares no expense in using foams designed to make you feel like you are sleeping on a cloud.

puffy squish

Having good edge support is crucial for several reasons –

  • It allows the user to make the most out of a mattress by using it from edge to edge without any loss of comfort or support. This ensures that you are making the most out of your sleeping space.
  • Having sturdy mattress edges allows you to move in and out of your bed with ease, eliminating the possibility of rolling out of the surface while sleeping.
  • A supportive perimeter means that you get a surface to sit on occasionally. Though sitting on the edges is not recommended, it is human instinct to use the sides of the bed while sitting and having a mattress with such supportive edges is always a plus point.

Advanced Airflow

puffy airflow

Now you no longer have to be concerned with night sweats. The Puffy Royal mattress contains a unique SMT cloud design on its fourth layer. This helps in eliminating the absorption of heat, thereby enabling superior airflow throughout the entire mattress. The cooling gel memory foam mattress gives the user a cooler feel while sleeping. The climate control foam used in each of its layers acts as humidity and temperature resistant. Sleepers can experience deeper and sound sleep without changes in mattress temperature throughout the year.

Keep in mind though that this mattress has multiple layers of foam and you will sink into the mattress considerably which will retain more heat. I recommend a cooling mattress protector that will help draw away heat and help you sleep better at night.

101 Night Sleep Trial

A free trial is something that has become a norm in the online mattress industry, and Puffy is no different. Puffy Royal allows its users to enjoy a full 101 night’s sleep. In case you are not satisfied with the quality of the product or its comfort level after using it for 101 nights, you are eligible to return the mattress for a full refund. After all, for overall health and well-being, it is worth investing in quality sleep.

Free of Harmful Chemicals

The Puffy mattress foams are all independently tested and CertiPUR-US® certified. This means that they are made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP flame retardants, mercury, lead, and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates, giving customers peace of mind. The Puffy mattress foams also have low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million). So sleep peacefully knowing that they’re free of harmful chemicals.

Free Shipping

Puffy Brand believes that shopping for comfort should be simple. Buyers should not buy added time and money in getting the mattress of their choice. You can get your Puffy Royal mattress delivered at your doorstep entirely free of cost and that too within a mere two to five business days.

Suitable for any surface

The supportive and flexible Puffy Royal mattress is specifically designed to be placed on any surface or frames, including slats, flat frames, box springs, and even any adjustable surfaces. You can also choose a frame like the Puffy Adjustable Base or the Puffy Bed Frame to go with your Puffy Royal Mattress.

Stain Resistant Fabric With Ease Of Washing

The fabric from which the Puffy Royal Mattress is made is completely stain-resistant, which means that any minor spills can be cleaned out in no time. Also, the mattress cover is easily washable, allowing the user to experience year-round freshness on his sleeping space. You can also opt for a seasonal deep cleaning to maintain the freshness of your mattress cover. Simply unzip the cover and give a gentle wash at home.

Pricing Specifications

The cost of Puffy Brand mattresses can range from $500 to almost $2700, depending on the type and size of the mattress opted for. The Puffy Royal is the costlier than the Puffy and Puffy Lux mattress due to the increase in the number of layers and the oft of the bed. The Royal features an additional two layers of cooling, making it expensive for the manufacturer to make these incredibly plush mattresses.

The Puffy mattress comes with a free set of bamboo sheets, a waterproof mattress protector and two puffy pillows.

Where to Buy a Puffy Royal Mattress?

You can buy through the Puffy website or directly through Sleep Sherpa. Feel free to contact us for discounts.

How Firm is the Puffy Royal Mattress?

The Puffy Royal is one of the softest mattresses I have reviewed that still provides good support.

Can I Flip the Puffy Royal Mattress?

No. None of the Puffy models are flipabble. However, you can rotate the mattress to prolong its lifespan.

Can I Purchase a Puffy in a Retail Store?

Yes! We have all 3 Puffy models to try and buy at the Sleep Sherpa Showroom.

Is the Puffy Mattress Cover Washable?

Yes and now. While you can unzip the cover and wash it on a cold cycle in a washing machine with mild detergent, I don’t recommend it. Instead, I would go with a mattress protector to keep your mattress clean and free of any dust mites and other bacteria.

Is the Puffy Royal a Good Choice for Heavy People?

Whil this is a very durable mattress, people over 275 lbs. may sink in a little too much. It’s hard to say but this is a case where you may want to try the mattress in stores.

Final Thoughts About the Puffy Royal Hybrid

The Puffy Royal is a side sleeper’s dream. It is hands down, my top pick for anyone that is a dedicated side sleeper. It contours like no other while still maintaining airflow. Compared to other top competitors like the Original Nectar mattress it is miles softer. It even offers better pressure relief than the Nectar Premier Copper.

puffy side sleeping

Overall, the Puffy Royal Mattress is quite versatile, with several healing properties ideal for any sleeper. Though the Puffy Royal is a recent inclusion to the Puffy Brand, it has garnered several reviews on their official website as well as other reviewing sites. While this mattress may seem to be a bit expensive, the array of benefits that it provides simply outweighs its price tag. If you are still in doubt about whether to invest so much for a mattress, you can send it back within the trial parameters for a full refund in case you are not satisfied with your experience. This is among the brand’s most luxurious mattresses. If you want a firmer mattress, check out the Puffy Lux or Original Puffy which is the all-foam Puffy.

If you are looking for a mattress feel that is on the softer side of the firmness scale and has all the features of a luxury mattress that should cost much more, give the Puffy Royal a try. If you want to go with a medium firmness, take a look at the Puffy Lux Hybrid. The Puffy Royal Hybrid’s strengths are its catering to dedicated side sleepers. There’s no better excuse to ditch your old mattress. I recommend the Puffy Royal to those sleepers that only want the best pressure relief available.

Recently updated on March 24th, 2023 at 08:06 pm

The DreamCloud Mattress

DreamCloud is a relatively new player in the mattress industry. The company was founded around 2017-2018 with the aim of providing high-quality, luxurious mattresses at an affordable price. Their flagship product, the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress, combines memory foam with pocketed coil technology, aiming to provide an optimal balance of comfort and support for sleepers.

DreamCloud is part of Resident Home which also owns Nectar and Awara brands.

DreamCloud’s business model follows the popular “bed-in-a-box” trend, which has revolutionized the mattress industry. They sell their products primarily online, offering a risk-free trial period, free shipping, and easy returns, making it convenient for customers to try out their mattresses at home.

Over the years, DreamCloud has continued to innovate and expand its product line, adding new models and accessories to meet the evolving demands of the market. In addition to the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress, the company offers a Premier version that features an additional layer of plush memory foam for added comfort.

As the company grows, it remains dedicated to its mission of providing luxury sleep experiences at a fraction of the cost of traditional high-end mattresses. While it may not have a long history, DreamCloud has quickly gained a reputation for its quality products and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Our Take on DreamCloud

The Dreamcloud mattress is a luxury hybrid mattress that breaks the mold. A few highlights of this mattress are stitched handles along the side, cashmere blend and flax yarns and a price of $1,399 for a queen size. Normally to get all these features in a mattress you can expect to pay north of $5,000. If you are tired of memory foam the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is for you. In this DreamCloud mattress review, we cover all three DreamCloud models and recommend which is best for you.

DreamCloud is often rated as the best mattress among major publications and mattress reviewers.

To top it all off Dreamcloud offers a 365 night trial period where if at any point you want to return it, Dreamcloud will pick it up at your house for free. No need to put it back in the box or pay return shipping. After your year trial period expired, you are protected by Dreamcloud’s “Forever Warranty” which is one of the strongest and longest in the industry.

Ordering and Unboxing the Dreamcloud

When you order your DreamCloud or even pick one up in store, it will come in a box like the ones below. These are king-size Dreamcloud Mattresses in the box.  The box on the left is the DreamCloud Premier, the middle box is the DreamCloud original aka DreamCloud Tight Top and the largest box on the right is the DreamCloud Premier Rest. These boxes are considerably larger than boxes from memory foam mattresses because the coil systems can only be compressed so much. The coils won’t get damaged though because they are individually wrapped coils and are not tied together.

Dreamcloud Boxes

The DreamCloud Accessories Sleep Bundle

DreamCloud will throw in 2 pillows, a set of sheets and a mattress protector to sweeten the deal. They value it at $599 which is a stretch but hey, if you need some bedding for your new mattress, it’s nice to have.

Your sheets, pillows and mattress protector all come in a box like this and it will ship separately from your mattress order so one may arrive before the other.

Sleep Bundle

It will take some time for the pillows to get to their normal size. You can put them in the dryer on no heat to get them fluffed up.

Overview of the Dreamcloud Mattresses

The DreamCloud now comes in 3 different models. Here’s what’s common among them. They all are made with individually wrapped coils, aka, pocket coils to reduce motion transfer which is key in a hybrid mattress. They also all have a memory foam layer with the Premier and Premier Rest having more layers than the original. All have a cashmere blend cover, how much cashmere, I’m not sure.

The DreamCloud Original

While the DreamCloud Original mattress has many great features, it’s important to take a closer look at its construction and performance to determine whether it’s truly worth the investment.

Firstly, the DreamCloud Original mattress is a hybrid mattress that combines memory foam and coils. While this can offer the best of both worlds in terms of support and comfort, it’s worth noting that hybrid mattresses can be less durable than all-foam or all-coil mattresses. The coils in the DreamCloud Original may start to sag over time, which can compromise the mattress’s overall support and comfort.

Additionally, the quilted euro-top on the DreamCloud Original is undoubtedly soft and comfortable. However, it may not be ideal for sleepers who prefer a firmer sleeping surface. The euro-top can compress over time, which can make the mattress feel softer and less supportive.

DreamCloud

This is the base DreamCloud model and the least expensive. It’s perfect for stomach sleepers and back sleepers. It’s also a good choice for hot sleepers

The DreamCloud Premier

he DreamCloud Premier is another hybrid mattress offered by DreamCloud that promises to provide a luxurious sleep experience. While it shares some similarities with the DreamCloud Original, there are a few key differences that are worth examining.

Firstly, the DreamCloud Premier has a thicker comfort layer than the Original. It features a euro-top that is 2.5 inches thick, which provides a plush sleeping surface that can be ideal for those who prefer a softer feel. However, this can also make the mattress less supportive than some firmer options.

Additionally, the DreamCloud Premier has a higher coil count than the Original, with a total of 1,000 individually wrapped coils. This can provide excellent support and help reduce motion transfer, but it’s worth noting that the Premier may be more prone to sagging over time due to the increased coil count.

Another feature of the DreamCloud Premier is its use of gel-infused memory foam. This can provide a cooler sleeping experience than traditional memory foam, which can be prone to trapping heat. However, some users may still find the mattress to sleep hot, particularly if they are naturally warm sleepers.

DreamCloud Premier

This is the upgraded version of the original DreamCloud and comes with extra foam layering without sacrificing support. It is my favorite of the DreamCloud lineup due to its feel and features. It is ideal for any sleep position but I recommend it most for back and stomach sleepers that want superior pressure relief without losing support.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a hybrid mattress offered by DreamCloud that aims to provide a superior sleep experience. While it shares some similarities with the DreamCloud Premier, there are a few key differences that are worth examining.

One of the main features of the DreamCloud Premier Rest is its use of advanced sleep technology. The mattress features a layer of Quantum edge-to-edge coils, which provide targeted support and help reduce motion transfer. Additionally, the Premier Rest utilizes a layer of gel-infused memory foam that is designed to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Another feature of the DreamCloud Premier Rest is its use of high-density foam. This can provide excellent support and help prolong the mattress’s lifespan. However, some users may find that the mattress feels firmer than they prefer, particularly if they prefer a plush sleeping surface.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest also boasts a luxury pillow-top that is designed to provide a plush sleeping surface. This can be ideal for those who prefer a softer feel, but may not be as supportive as firmer mattresses.

Like the other DreamCloud mattresses, the Premier Rest is priced higher than many other hybrid mattresses on the market. While the advanced sleep technology and high-quality materials may justify the higher price point for some, others may prefer to seek out more budget-friendly options.

Overall, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a solid choice for those who prioritize support and advanced sleep technology. However, those who prefer a plush sleeping surface or are on a budget may want to consider other options before committing to the Premier Rest. Additionally, those who are particularly sensitive to heat may want to consider a mattress that offers more cooling features.

DreamCloud Premier Rest

This is the most expensive DreamCloud and the only one that comes with a knife edge pillowtop, a rarity to find in a mattress in a box. This is by far the softest of the DreamCloud lineup and is better suited towards side sleepers and will give you the most pressure relief but stomach sleepers and hot sleepers should stay away. It’s also my least favorite of the DreamCloud line because it seems to lack support in key areas.

Below is an unboxing video of the Dreamcloud. As you can see it comes compressed in a box but that doesn’t mean it is any less quality than other luxury hybrid memory foam mattress. New pocket coil technology allows for roll packing which saves on shipping costs and the savings are passed directly to the consumer.

Below is a video of me on the Dreamcloud. You will see that it has nice bounce and contains motion really well for having springs. It feels as good as it looks.

Dreamcloud Layers

QUILTED EURO TOP

Introducing your dreamiest sleep ever. Our durable Quilted Euro Top offers unparalleled comfort and premium softness for maximum rest potential.

CONTOUR & COMFORT LAYER

With an ultra-plush feel, our Comfort Layer is made of a gel-infused memory foam to help relax the body and provide relief for pressure points.

SUPPORT LAYER

With all this plush comfort, our essential Support Layer helps provide resistance and a stable foundation for better body alignment and a deep, restful sleep.

POCKETED INNERSPRING COIL

This layer helps promote breathability and temperature regulation for cool comfort. It’s designed with edge support stability and helps reduce motion transfer for an unadulterated slumber.

BASE SUPPORT LAYER

This Base Support Layer provides extra stability to the much-loved Pocketed Innerspring Coil layer.

BOTTOM MATTRESS COVER

While much overlooked, the Bottom Mattress Cover has the important job of ensuring your mattress stays in the correct place and doesn’t move around while you dream.

My Dreamcloud Mattress Findings

This mattress feels wonderful. It is a hybrid mattress which means springs and foam but it is so much more. Every layer contributes to the overall feel.  The quilted foam on the top layer really allows you to sink into the mattress without feeling like you are lying on a flat piece of foam.

You will also notice other quality details like handles stitched into the side of the mattress. This makes it easy to move and easy to rotate.

Dreamcloud Handles

This mattress feels plush and supportive. This is hard to achieve but I think Dreamcloud pulled it off by quilting foam into the top layer and then adding springs underneath. This allows you to sink somewhat into the mattress before being lifted up again by the responsive foam and spring system.

Here’s a picture that illustrates how much my 14 lb. bowling ball sinks into the mattress.

When is the Best Time to Buy A DreamCloud?

DreamCloud has held flash sales in the past. Recently they had a 25% off sale which is the best Dreamcloud deal I have seen. These flash sales happen close to big sales holidays like Black Friday, Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.

Where is the DreamCloud Mattress Made?

Right now according to the law tags on the back of the DreamCloud models I received, it is currently made in Turkey. I’m not sure why they chose Turkey, but it must be less expensive to make there than in the USA. Regardless, these mattresses are CertiPur-US certified meaning they are free of heavy metals, formaldehyde, and other toxic ingredients.

My Dreamcloud Mattress Recommendation

The Dreamcloud is hands down one of the best values out there for a mattress. I haven’t come across a mattress that is built better than the Dreamcloud at this price point. I recommend the Dreamcloud to people that want a traditional mattress feel will all the benefits of newer generation foams and a quality spring sytem.

In terms of firmness, I would say it is about a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale with 10 being the firmest. If you want a mattress with foam layers that recovers quickly, is breathable and contours well, this would be the ideal mattress for you.

People looking for a firm mattress or a dense foam feel mattress will want to look elsewhere.

At the Sleep Sherpa mattress store in San Diego, customers are really enjoying the feel of this mattress and it is resonating well and definitely worth a try for people looking for a mattress with a more substantial feel that is going to last a while.

What Mattresses are Comparable to the DreamCloud?

Several other mattresses on the market share similarities with the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress and the DreamCloud Premier. These mattresses also combine memory foam layers with pocketed coil systems to provide a balance of comfort and support. Some popular alternatives include:

  1. Saatva Classic Mattress: The Saatva Classic is a luxury hybrid innerspring mattress that comes in three firmness options: plush soft, luxury firm, and firm. It features an organic cotton cover, a Euro pillow top, a memory foam layer for pressure relief, and an individually wrapped coil system for support and reduced motion transfer.

  2. Helix Midnight Mattress: The Helix Midnight is a medium-firm hybrid mattress designed for side sleepers and those who prefer a balance of comfort and support. It features a soft cover, a layer of memory foam for pressure relief, a transitional foam layer, and an individually wrapped coil system for support and minimal motion transfer.

  3. WinkBeds Mattress: WinkBeds offers a luxury hybrid mattress available in four firmness options: soft, luxury firm, firm, and plus (designed for heavier individuals). The WinkBeds mattress features a Euro-pillow top, a gel-infused foam layer, a micro-coil system for contouring support, and a pocketed coil base for overall support and durability.

  4. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress: The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress comes in three firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. It features a quilted top, a layer of responsive proprietary foam called “TitanFlex,” a layer of high-density memory foam, and a base of individually wrapped coils for support and reduced motion transfer.

  5. Bear Hybrid Mattress: The Bear Hybrid mattress is a medium-firm hybrid designed for pressure relief and support. It features a quilted top with Celliant fibers (which claim to improve recovery and regulate temperature), a gel-infused memory foam layer, a transitional foam layer, and a pocketed coil system for support and minimal motion transfer.

These mattresses have similar constructions to DreamCloud mattresses, but they may differ in terms of firmness, feel, and pricing. It’s essential to consider your personal sleep preferences, budget, and any special features (such as cooling technology or targeted support) when comparing these mattresses.

DreamCloud Premier vs. Premier Rest

They share similarities, such as having the same customer service terms, being hybrid mattresses with a balance of comfort and support, cooling features, and responsiveness. However, there are some differences between the two.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is taller and softer than the DreamCloud Premier due to an additional layer of supportive soft foam. Consequently, it is also more expensive than the DreamCloud Premier. In terms of firmness, the DreamCloud Premier is rated 6.5 out of 10 (medium firm) while the Premier Rest is rated 6 out of 10 (softer than average).

For different sleeping positions, the DreamCloud Premier is ideal for back sleepers due to its balance of comfort and support, while the Premier Rest is better for side sleepers because of its enhanced pressure relief. Neither mattress is particularly suitable for stomach sleepers, especially for heavier individuals. Both mattresses have similar motion transfer and edge support, with neither excelling in these areas.

In terms of pricing, the DreamCloud Premier costs around $1,600 for a queen-size mattress, while the Premier Rest is closer to $2,000. However, coupons are available for discounts. The DreamCloud Premier is recommended for back sleepers, those who prefer firmer support, and budget-conscious buyers. The Premier Rest is suitable for side sleepers, those who want a softer, plushier mattress, and those seeking a more luxurious option.

DreamCloud vs. BeautyRest Black

When comparing the DreamCloud (Luxury Hybrid Mattress) and the Beautyrest Black, it is essential to consider the construction, firmness, feel, and price of each mattress. Keep in mind that my knowledge is up to date as of September 2021, so make sure to check for the latest information on the manufacturer’s website or contact their customer service.

Construction:

DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress:

  1. Quilted Euro Top: Soft, breathable cover for plush comfort.
  2. Gel Memory Foam: Provides pressure relief and temperature regulation.
  3. Transitional Foam Layer: Offers supportive transition between memory foam and pocketed coils.
  4. Pocketed Coil System: Provides targeted support and minimizes motion transfer.
  5. High-Density Foam Base: Adds durability and stability to the mattress.

Beautyrest Black:

  1. BlackICE 4.0 Fabric Cover: A cool-to-the-touch cover designed for temperature regulation.
  2. RightTemp Memory Foam: Memory foam infused with carbon fibers for temperature control and pressure relief.
  3. Beautyrest Gel Memory Foam: Provides additional pressure relief and contouring.
  4. T3 Pocketed Coil Technology: Triple-strand coils for enhanced support, durability, and reduced motion transfer.
  5. High-Density Foam Encasement: Reinforced edge support and overall stability.

Firmness and Feel:

DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress has a medium-firm feel, rated around 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. It offers a balance of comfort and support, with a plush quilted Euro top and responsive underlying support.

Beautyrest Black is available in different firmness levels, ranging from plush to extra firm. The feel of the mattress will depend on the selected firmness option. The mattress is designed for pressure relief and contouring, with a focus on temperature control and support.

Price:

DreamCloud tends to be more budget-friendly compared to the Beautyrest Black. The exact price of the Beautyrest Black will depend on the specific model and size, but it is generally more expensive than the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress.

In summary, the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress is a good option for those seeking a medium-firm feel, balance of comfort and support, and a more budget-friendly mattress. The Beautyrest Black is suitable for those looking for customizable firmness options, advanced temperature control, and a more luxurious mattress with a higher budget. Both mattresses offer good pressure relief and support, but the Beautyrest Black has more advanced cooling features and customizable firmness options.

The Leesa Hybrid mattress is a new foam and spring hybrid mattress from the makers of the Leesa mattress. It is a great feeling mattress where the pocket coil system gives it an extra feeling of luxury. It has the signature white striped design towards the bottom of the mattress and is a bit thicker than the Leesa.

Even the Sapira site is a sort of luxury experience. There is extensive information about the construction of the mattress and the sourcing of the material. This mattress is 100% made in the USA which means buying a Sapira directly supports the US economy.

Unboxing the Leesa Sapira Mattress

The Sapira comes in a cool black box that gives it some sophistication.

sapira box

Below is a video of the mattress as I take it out of the packaging. I took it out of the box ahead of time since it is heavy and it took a little longer than a typical boxed mattress.

Construction of the Leesa Sapria Mattress

What I really like about this company is that they are transparent with not only their sourcing of material but the materials and amounts of material they use in the mattress. This gives customers the ability to make comparison and understand how the mattress works.

When it comes to comfort, more material isn’t always better. There is a point at which more foam, springs, etc. really doesn’t add value. Sort of the princess and the pea effect. I could tell that Sapira put a lot of effort into getting a great combination of foam blends with an excellent pocket coil system to create a great mattress.

Cover: A single knitted length of fabric (made in the USA) is beautifully tailored to hug the mattress and your body.  Subtle quilting and our signature “patterns” of life stripes add to the elegance and comfort.

Performance Layer: The 1.5” top layer is a high performance 3.75 lb high-density foam. This performance layer does not retain heat, is hole punched to allow air flow cooling, and provides enough bounce for freedom of movement.

  • Density 3.75 lb
  • Indentation Force Deflection (IFD) 20 – 26

Memory Foam: A 1.5″ layer of 4lb high performance memory foam provides body contouring and pressure relief to relax your body.

  • Density 4 lb
  • Indentation Force Deflection (IFD) 9

Stabilizing Layers: A 1” top and bottom layer of 2lb high-resiliency foam envelops the pocket spring allowing for seamless transition of the performance foam and memory foam.

  • Density 2 lb
  • Indentation Force Deflection (IFD) 32 – 38

Pocket Springs: A thousand premium grade steel pocket springs provide a unique core support layer. The unique pocket spring system provides superior edge support, unparalleled body contouring and virtually zero motion transfer.

The Sapira is 100% American Made using CertiPUR-US® approved foams.

My Leesa Sapria Findings

Below is a video showing how much bounce you will get with this mattress. Since it has coils and foam it will give you bounce but not much motion transfer:

Below is a picture to give you an idea of how much this mattress sinks. Even though it has multiple layers of foam above the springs, you won’t sink much into this mattress.

sapira sink

I opened the cover to give you an idea of how each layer works and what you can expect in terms of feel:

Below is a picture of the layers to give you a more detailed shot of construction.

sapira inside

My Leesa Hybrid Mattress Recommendation

The Sapira mattress would be a great choice for people that like the pressure relief that foam offers but want a bit more support and the bounce that an innerspring gives. This company has a stellar reputation for customer service and their charity work. People looking to upgrade their sleep environment with a mattress that is going to appeal to a wide variety of sleepers should seriously consider the Sapira.

I recently received a free Oceano mattress for review. This is one of 300 or so mattresses that I have been given since starting Sleep Sherpa. Out of all the mattresses, I have tested so far, the Oceano mattress from Brentwood Home is by far one of the premier luxury mattresses online. The quality of the material that you get for the price is outstanding. With the Oceano, Brentwood has brought the online mattress space to new highs. I have tried other spring mattresses including the Duxiana which can cost up to $10,000 and I actually prefer the Oceano. Read on to learn why.

Ordering and Unboxing the Brentwood Home Oceano

You can order this mattress from Amazon or direct from Brentwood Home. I strongly recommend purchasing directly from Brentwood Home. You will get the best price and their industry-leading 1 year trial where if you don’t like it during the first year of purchase, they will pick it up for free along with a full refund. Brentwood has a dedicated customer service team and is a big enough company where they will respond to you promptly with any concerns.

Upon unboxing there is a product brochure that highlights some of the bedding accessories you can also purchase from Brentwood Home. I really like their linen blanket which is perfect for Spring and Fall.

Below is a video that gives an overview of the mattress. It comes in a box that is delivered to your door via UPS or FedEx. No need to give up a chunk of your day waiting for a truck to arrive.

Specifications of the Oceano Mattress

inside the oceano mattress

This is not a simple 3 layer foam mattress. It is a sophisticated system that gives you that luxurious feel which is rare right now in boxed mattresses. Below are the specifications:

  • Medium feel. Belgian 4-way stretch knit with a spacious, pillowy quilt design lined with New Zealand wool that wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as a natural fire barrier
  • 4-inch top pocket of 1353 individually wrapped micro coils provide comfort and support
  • Contouring layer of gel memory foam offers pressure relief and spinal support while the 796 individually wrapped base coils sit in 5 zones to support every inch of your body where you need it most
  • Hand-tufted wool rosettes secure layers without the use of adhesives that might block airflow. 6 upholstered handles to easily move or adjust your bed without the hassle
  • CertiPUR-US Certified free of unhealthy chemicals, including harmful fire retardants, phthalates, and heavy metals. 25-year limited warranty

It’s important to note that the queen size weighs 113 lbs. Considering the average queen size boxed mattress I receive is around 65 lbs, this is quite a step up.

How Much Does the Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress Cost?

Below are the current prices of the mattress in all sizes. You get the retail price and the price using our 15% off discount, sleepsherpa15

My Oceano Findings

I’ve never been a big fan of micro coils. Usually, they just don’t do anything. They usually completely collapse and do nothing to provide support or bounce. However, Brentwood got it right this time. The micro-coils in the Oceano create a contouring support that helps you float on the mattress while still giving you a nice hug. This is exactly how a euro-top should feel. The coils help the top recover faster and provide superior pressure relief than a simple foam euro-top. You also won’t get pulled into the middle with your partner half-way through the night like some of the cheaper euro top mattresses.

Here’s a clip illustrating the bounce on the Oceano. It has good bounce without much motion transfer. The pocket coils isolate movement because they all work independently and the foam also absorbs quite a bit of energy. Added to that, the tufting on the mattress further lessens motion transfer. The 4-way stretch fabric on the top of the mattress won’t pull from the other side of the mattress either. It’s a lot of little things that make a big difference.

This mattress is hand-tufted. Not only does this make the mattress look great but it also helps with breathability by creating small channels for air to circulate while you sleep. The tufting method also eliminated the need for glue. Instead, the threads keep all the material in place which makes for a more natural mattress.

Speaking of natural, because this mattress uses springs as a base layer instead of a foam layer, it is more eco-friendly. Foam bases use much more fossil fuels than coil systems. Additionally, coil systems are more breathable and sleep cooler than their foam counterparts.

Below is a picture of the mattress right after unboxing. The small wrinkles eventually go away, this is due to it being compressed in a box. Notice the tufting and the stitched handles which are available on all sides of the mattress. Brentwood also uses furniture-grade upholstery for the border.

oceano mattress

Here’s what it looks like after a couple days.

Brentwood Home Oceano MattressThis mattress also has great edge support. The Oceano has an 8-inch 5-zone Quantum®Edge Combi-Zone® Coil System from Leggett & Platt. This is a pocket coil system that was designed for great edge support so you won’t feel like you’re going to roll off the mattress. Here’s a description of the system from the manufacturer:

Quantum® Edge forms a frame around select ComfortCore® units, providing a better edge than foam, reducing or eliminating that roll-off feeling, and delivering a consistent sleep surface.

• Proven 26% more durable than foam encasements.
• On adjustable bases, Quantum Edge bends an average of 24% easier than foam encasements, which means less wear and tear on moving parts.

Here’s a picture of the Quantum Edge corner. Notice the perimeter of smaller, firmer coils around the edge to provide extra support.

quantum edge

My Brentwood Home Oceano Recommendation

A queen size Oceano retails for $1,495 which is an excellent value considering all the features of this mattress. You would be hard-pressed to find a better mattress at this price point.

If you buy a twin size you will want to take advantage of their $175 off offer which is coupon code: “LA175” but if you buy anything larger use the coupon code Sleepsherpa15 to get a better deal with 15% off.

Brentwood Home exudes the laid-back California vibe. It is both elegant and comfortable. Brentwood makes all their mattresses factory-direct in Los Angeles and they take pride in what they do. Luxury does not have to mean expensive and Brentwood has proven that with their flagship mattress, the Oceano.

The Oceano is also a top pick among customers in the Sleep Sherpa Mattress Showroom in Minneapolis.

I received a free SmartHouse Beds Cool sleeper for review. The SmartHouse Cool Sleeper is the latest offering in from Nest Bedding. The Cool Sleeper was designed for maximum air flow using a blend of foam and more traditional/natural materials such as wool to create a unique sleep surface that sets it apart from the all foam mattresses I have reviewed.

This mattress was developed with Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse. Carter is known most recently for his work on the show, Home Grown Makeover on the FYI network.

Ordering

You can order the SmartHome Cool Sleeper direct from Nest Bedding. It comes shipped in a UPS box and has the same 100 day trial that all Nest Bedding mattresses come with. You can also finance this bed directly through Nest through their partnership with Affirm. If you have good credit you can get a very competitive rate.

This is a heavier mattress compared to a traditional bed in a box mattress. It weighs around 110 lbs. and you will probably need a couple people to get it up stairs or make use of a hand truck.

As you can see below the box is about the width of my king size bed.

Honest Beds

Unboxing

Findings

I slept on the plush version of the Cool Sleeper. A firm is also available although I found the plush to be very supportive while still providing good pressure relief. The Cool Sleeper is different from other foam mattresses in that there are multiple convoluted layers. This helps to draw heat out of the mattress. Additionally, there’s a top layer of wool that also helps with temperature regulation. The wool also interacts with the memory foam in that it makes this mattress feel more like a traditional mattress. You body won’t make any impressions and its easy to move around on.

Here’s an illustration showing motion transfer

Notice that the mattress springs back into shape very quickly. I think this is because the top layer of wool acts a sort of a mesh that keeps you from sinking in too much.

Cool Sleeper

As I said before this bed is heavier than most of the mattresses I have reviewed. So, as a nice touch, this mattress comes with stitched handles on all four sides making it easy to transport once out of the box.

Handles

I did notice that it has a little more motion transfer than some of the other mattresses I have tested but I think that may be the top wool layer. During my testing period I also used a mattress protector I purchased from Target as I lent my Protect A Bed protector out to someone else to try. I woke up sweating a few nights and was worried it was the mattress. I tried it without the protector and noticed that it made a world of difference. The Target protector felt like sleeping on a plastic bag because it didn’t breathe and therefore I didn’t get the benefits of the Cool Sleeper. So, if you’re going to invest in a quality mattress, make sure you have a quality protector to go with it.

Conclusion

The SmartHouse Cool Sleeper is a great choice for people looking for a high quality, durable mattress that has superior temperature regulation. The wool top layer will keep you cool but won’t make you cold. I have been sleeping on this bed for most of December in Minnesota and I wear a lot of wool in the winter because it keeps you insulated against temperature extremes. It’s sort of like nature’s thermostat. As a bonus, the wool serves as a natural fire barrier so there is no chemical fire barrier on this mattress. To top it off you also get an organic cotton cover.  I recommend this bed for anyone looking for great pressure relief and a bed that will keep you comfortable in any climate.

If you want a mattress that feels like a traditional memory foam mattress you will want to look elsewhere. This mattress is more suited to people who like a traditional mattress feel with all the benefits of memory foam and the natural temperature regulation of wool. The construction of this mattress it top notch and I expect it to have a longer lifespan than other mattresses I have reviewed.

Overview of the Wright Mattress

I received a free Wright mattress for review. After laying down on the Wright mattress for about 5 minutes, I knew this one was a winner. Wright’s W1.27 model is going to be hard to beat.  The bed in a box has come a LONG way in just the past year. Companies are being forced to up their game to capture mattress market share. Wright went through 27 prototypes before arriving at the W1.27. This required money and most importantly patience. Lately, it seems like there is a rush to be first to market in this space which can lead to mediocre products. I think Wright played things right by investing in the R&D upfront so that they could offer a superior mattress that commands a price premium.

Ordering the Wright Mattress

You can order the Wright mattress direct from their website. A twist is that you can either get the mattress in 2-5 business days or wait a little longer and get white glove delivery. With this option, they will take away your old mattress and carry the new one to the room which you will set it up in. Getting rid of an old mattress is not always an easy task so this takes the stress out of the process. If you live in New York City, you can visit their showroom at 188 Lafayette Street. The Wright mattress is covered by a 120-day trial so you get about 4 months to try it out in your house to see if it’s a winner. If for whatever reason you don’t like it, you can return it at no cost to you with a full refund. This puts Wright on the more generous end of trial periods for the industry.

Unboxing My Wright Mattress

This mattress inflates fast. It’s ready to sleep on after about an hour out of the box. There is some off gassing so I would wait at least 8 hours before sleeping on it.  The video is a bit amateur since my daughter filmed it. The kids never seem to grow tired of watching me unbox these.

My Wright Bed Findings

This mattress has a very unique feel. A common complaint with memory foam is that the top layer of foam is too slow to react. The next biggest is that it is too fast to react and you hit the middle and bottom layer creating a feeling like you are bottoming out on the mattress. Wright is able to achieve an excellent balance where you can’t really tell where one layer ends and the other begins.

As you can see below, this mattress has four layers with the top being a gel infused foam layer.

wright mattress layers

Here’s a clip that illustrates how the layers react.

There’s not much motion transfer with this mattress even though the mattress recovers very quickly.

Here’s the bowling ball drop test.

Below is the data from my accelerometer

Accelometer wright bed

Notice below that the bowling ball sinks quite a bit into the mattress. It’s great for side sleepers.

Wright mattress sink

Finally, here’s a video illustrating the heat retention in this mattress:

My Wright Mattress Recommendation

Wright lives up to the hype and in my opinion, the quality is there to be able to command a higher price. It’s very apparent that they have done their homework and have paid attention to detail. This is a very versatile mattress so it should appeal to most sleepers. If you want a very firm mattress, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a mattress that will relieve all your pressure points, that is easy to move around in at night, and feels nothing like an old school memory foam mattress, get Wright.
