Saatva is best known for their line of mattresses. They were one of the first direct to consumer mattress companies online. I bought a
Overview of the Saatva Pillow
Here’s a video overview of the main features of the pillow. It has a very familiar feel. By that I mean it will feel like a traditional down or down alternative pillow but the latex insert gives it added support.
Ordering and Unboxing the Saatva Latex Pillow
You can get this pillow exclusively through Saatva. My order arrived in about a week and came in a box like the one below.
Inside the box you will find the pillow in another plastic, zippered bag with handles which keeps it clean and is great for storage later.
Here’s the bag out of the box.
How Much Does the Saatva Pillow Cost?
This pillow retails for $145 in a queen size and $165 in a king size. If you buy a set of 2 king size pillows you get a discount of $40 It comes with a 45 day return period which means it’s free shipping to you and free shipping on the return so you aren’t out any money.
Construction of the Saatva Pillow
Here are the construction specifications as listed on the
Queen: 28” x 18” / King: 34” x 18”
-
COVER: 100% organic cotton
Soft, breathable sateen cover wicks moisture and sleeps cool. Gusseted sides offer long-lasting shape and contrast welting provides a luxurious, finished look. Unzip to wash.
-
PILLOW: Lofty and plush
100% organic cotton filled with silky, down-like microdenier fiber. This plush layer is hypoallergenic and promotes airflow for cooler, more restful sleep. Machine washable and made in the USA.
-
CORE: Shredded Talalay latex
Responsive 100% Talalay latex, for ultimate head and neck support. Recommended by chiropractors and orthopedists, Talalay is naturally hypoallergenic, dust-mite resistant, mildew proof, and has greater airflow than imported latex. Made from natural, renewable resources.
My Saatva Pillow Findings
The first thing I noticed was that these pillows were not roll packed and shrink-wrapped. If they were, it wouldn’t affect the pillow but having them come in a full-size box made the opening experience more enjoyable and they weren’t wrinkled and didn’t have any smell when I put them on my bed.
The fist thing I noticed was the optic white cover. This is a removable cotton cover that can be washed. I still recommend using a pillowcase but I do appreciate the extra layer of protection.
On the side you will find zipper to access the inside of the pillow.
Inside the pillow, you will find the shredded Talalay Latex insert. If you sleep on your stomach you will probably want to remove this to make the pillow thinner. This also makes it a great guest pillow since it is easily customizable and has a very familiar feel. The top and bottom of the pillow have microfiber fill that makes the pillow feel like a down or down alternative pillow. Its very light and the fibers are silky smooth.
Here’s a picture of the latex insert. It is square, not rectangular making it easier to swap out.
My Saatva Pillow Recommendation
I recommend this pillow for people looking for a traditional feel. Something like a down or down alternative pillow that provides a litte more support and more responsiveness. I like that you can make it thinner by removing the insert. That extra customizability helps justify the price and is something that I have seen in other pillows but this pillow just feels better. I also like the fact that you get 45 days to try it out to see if its a good fit. If anything, this is a great pillow for a guest room as it has universal appeal and will adequately fill up a pillowcase making the bed look beautiful.
Essentia Pillow Review
Recently updated on June 6th, 2020 at 12:19 pm
I recently purchased the Coco Pillow from Essentia. The Coco pillow is described by Essentia as being, “A slim pillow that’s still soft and bouncy, the Coco is an organic latex pillow perfect for back sleepers!”
According to Essentia, the latex that they use to make their mattresses and pillows is different than other latex. They mix their latex with essential oils, plant extracts and water to give it a uniqe feel. Some of the ads promote Essentia as a natural memory foam. From my experience, natural latex doesn’t have much memory. Natural latex is basically rubber and behaves like rubber. It is bouncy and very resilient. Whereas memory foam contours more and recovers more slowly.
Overview and Unboxing the Essentia Pillow
The Essentia Coco Pillow is packaged really nice. Here’s a picture of the box that comes shipped to your door. It only took about a week for it to arrive after placing my order on the Essentia website. It retails for $99 and I as far as I can tell the only place you can buy it is from Essentia. I didn’t see it listed on Amazon.
Essentia is headquartered out of Canada and all thier products are made in Canada.
Here’s a picture of the inside. Notice the nice paper surrounding the pillow
My Essentia Pillow Findings
Overall this a good pillow. Shredded latex has a great feel ot it and the Essentia pillow ads a little more interest with their cover. Here’s a picture of one side of the pillow. It sort of has a 70s vibe going on.
Here’s the back side of the pillow which is a more traditional look.
The cover seems to be washable in that you can remove the outer cover and there is an inner chamber that holds the latex. This is a nice plus as the outer cover is kind of decorative and could be used without a pillow case. This is the kind of pillow where if you like the striped cover, it makes an interesting decorative piece.
Here’s a picture of the zipper.
My Essentia Pillow Findings
The Essentia Coco pillow is a great choice for people that want a medium loft, shredded latex pillow. It’s great for the bedroom or around the house especially because you can wash the cover. Below is a video of me with the pillow.
If you want to know what the inside of the pillow looks like, it is basically shredded latex. Here’s a picture of some shredded latex. This picture is of a different pillow with a zipper.
Conclusion
For $99 this shredded latex pillow from Essentia is a good price. Normallly I would go with a latex pillow where you can adjust the fill but they do cost a bit more and I think Essentia has done a good job with the right amount of fill where it should accomodate most sleepers. Because latex is so resilient, you don’t need a very thick pillow to get the proper support you need.

The Everpillow by Infinite Moon is another pillow in the world of customizable pillows. It can be a competitive world out there. Almost every new pillow is one you can open and change to your liking so it makes sense that companies have to find ways to be different. In the case of Everpillow, they aren’t just different but they act differently too. By purchasing an Everpillow, you get to be part of a bigger story and you can read more about that below.
Overview of the EverPillow
Infinite Moon has kept things relatively simple with the Everpillow, with unique options where they would work best. There are two pillow types, one for back and stomach sleepers, and another for side sleepers. The difference between the two is that they’re just cut a little differently. You then have the option to also customize what kind of pillow fill you’ll get, which is pretty unique! The company is based out of Colorado so for anyone who is a big patriot, you’ll be happy to know this pillow is handmade at home in the US of A.
Construction of the EverPillow
The Everpillow comes in two different styles: “The Original” or “The Curve,” with the Curve being designed specifically for side sleepers. As far as pillow fill, that is another aspect you’re able to customize. Your options are Kapok Silk Fill, Latex Noodle Fill, or a Blend (of the two). Kapok Silk is a silky cotton fiber from the seedpod of the Java Cotton Tree. It’s known for being resistant to moisture and dust mites. This is the first time I’ve heard of Kapok Silk, so that’s another thumbs up to being different.
The pillows only come in the following sizes:
The Original: 26 X 18 X 5 in
The Curve: 26 X 18 X 5 in
My EverPillow Findings
Mile High Workshop is a job training and employment program based out of Denver, Colorado. Women and men who were once victims of homelessness, addiction and incarnation are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives through the program. Individuals that partake in the program are given 32 hours of paid work per week. They’re also able to partake in group program activities such as computer training, budgeting, resume building, conflict resolution and self empowerment. One-on-one sessions with an on-staff Professional Development Advocate are available, as well as basic needs resources for finding housing, transportation, food assistance as well as long term employment.
For people that care a lot about these sorts of philanthropic endeavors, wanting to try a new pillow can easily become a lot more simple knowing that no matter if you end up liking it or not, you were still able to contribute to a really noble cause with your purchase.
“That means YOU get to be part of a bigger story, too. Because behind every one of our pillows, there’s a story of brand-new beginning for someone. And it’s only natural that we would want to share with you how your purchase is making a difference in their lives.”
My Infinite Moon EverPillow Recommendation
I was pleasantly surprised with the EverPillow. I wasn’t sure what to expect but from the unboxing to trying out the actual pillows, it was a very intuitive and enjoyable experience. I feel that they make quality products that are accurately priced and I like that they’ve made a real effort in trying to be different and in trying to be and do better. I am still fascinated with Kapok silk, so much so that I’ve tried to see if anyone has made a comforter with the material but it hasn’t yet been done. Maybe Infinite Moon will step up to the plate 🙂
While I really like the EverPillow, there are 2 small things I would change. I would change the color of the pillow, as when it comes to pillows, I just think white is best and I would also like to mention something regarding pillow size. For one, it’s a little limiting to have two different pillows that are the same dimensions. Standard pillows measure 20” X 28” and Queen pillows measure 20” X 30”. The Everpillow, regardless of whether it’s The Original or The Curve, measure 26” X 18”. This feels like a strange measurement in comparison to what is typical in the industry. In this case, I think following the norm is best. I think companies should stick with standard pillow sizes, especially to more easily suit any bedding that an individual has in their home. They won’t always want the pillowcase that comes with the pillow. In fact, most probably won’t. When it comes to the Curve pillow, maybe I can understand the necessity of the additional dimension but I think maybe there is a little bit of room for improvement in that area. That OR they should also sell white pillowcases to accommodate the size of the pillow.

Brooklyn Bedding Latex Pillow Review #bestpillowever

Brooklyn Bedding recently launched a new latex pillow that is made of Talalay latex. It truly caters to all types of sleepers. I have tried shredded latex pillows in the past and thought they were superior to solid latex pillows but this pillow proved me wrong. Latex is very resilient and recovers instantly which is something foam just can’t do.
Ordering and Unboxing the Brooklyn Bedding Pillow
You can get this pillow direct through their website at the best price. It’s made in the USA so shipping is fast. Below is me unboxing the pillow. Notice that although it comes wrapped and compressed it bounces into shape instantly.
Brooklyn Bedding Latex Pillow Construction
SIZE | Queen: 16″×7″×29 – King: 16″×7″×35 |
COVER | Charcoal Bamboo Blend, Removable w/ Zipper |
COMFORT MATERIAL | Blended Talalay Latex from Latex International |
WEIGHT | 3 ½-6lb |
BOX | Queen/King: 8×8×17 |
My Brooklyn Bedding Pillow Findings
I really enjoy how this pillow feels. It is the softest latex pillow I have slept on. I appreciate that it is not too thick either. As a stomach sleeper, I can sleep on it with my arm underneath the pillow without putting my neck out of alignment. I also sometimes switch to my side and this pillow supports me just fine.
You will notice a smell with this pillow for a few days. That’s just the natural smell of latex which will go away eventually. The charcoal infused bamboo cover looks very nice and I like that it is removable in case you want to wash it. As I mention in the video, the pillow has a tiny hole that is created when pouring the latex into the pillow mold. This helps with breathing and keeps your head cool at night.
The only negative to this pillow that I have found is that the cover is dark. If you have white or a light colored pillowcase, the dark color can show through. This can be remedied with a white pillow protector but then you lose some of the breathability.
For those that prefer function over form, this has been the best latex pillow I have tried. The price is amazing too. It beats latex pillows that cost 3 times as much.
My Brooklyn Bedding Latex Pillow Recommendation
If you purchase this pillow through Brooklyn Bedding you get a 120 trial where you can return it if you don’t like it for a refund. They even send you a return label! If you purchase from Amazon you get a 30 return period but need to pay return shipping. It also comes with a 3-year warranty that protects against defects or indentations but I don’t see how anyone would be able to get anything under this warranty. Latex is very durable and it’s very unlikely that the pillow would fail to the requirements of the warranty. People are extremely picky about their pillows, much more so than mattresses so I can’t make any guarantees that you will like this one. All I can say is that the quality and value is there. Plus you have an excellent trial period.
Disclosure: We aim to highlight products and services you might find interesting, and if you buy them, we may get a small share of the revenue. I have an affiliate relationship with Brooklyn Bedding.

I am really enjoying my new Savvy Rest shredded latex pillow that arrived last week. It is shredded organic cotton with an organic fiber pillow case. You can unzip the cover and remove latex as needed to adjust the firmness. It comes overstuffed so you can work your way down to the desired level and even have enough left over for almost another pillow! Unlike the shredded memory foam pillow that I have used, this pillow does not off gas. You can sleep on it the same night you open it out of the box. It pairs extremely well with our Savvy Rest organic latex mattress and has alleviated neck pain I was experiencing with our cheap Target pillows.
This pillow pairs well with a memory foam or latex mattress. I have found that I prefer my pillow to match the material of my mattress. So if I’m sleeping on a traditional mattress with lots of cotton, I prefer an organic material like down or cotton.
The Savvy Rest pillow is not cheap but the latex will not break down as easily like other materials so you will get many years of use out of it.
