Both Brentwood Home crib mattresses are designed to be firm and supportive, which is important for infants. They are also both made with safe and non-toxic materials, so you can be sure that your baby is sleeping on a safe and comfortable mattress.

Here are some of the benefits of using a Brentwood Home crib mattress:

  • Firm and supportive: Brentwood Home crib mattresses are designed to be firm and supportive, which is important for infants. A firm mattress helps to reduce the risk of SIDS and suffocation.
  • Safe and non-toxic materials: Brentwood Home crib mattresses are made with safe and non-toxic materials, so you can be sure that your baby is sleeping on a safe mattress.
  • Waterproof and dust mite resistant: Brentwood Home crib mattresses are waterproof and dust mite resistant, which helps to protect your baby from allergens and spills.
  • Breathable: Brentwood Home crib mattresses are breathable, which helps to keep your baby cool and comfortable while they sleep.
  • Organic: The Organic Crib Mattress is made with a certified organic coconut coir core and a GOTS certified organic cotton cover. This is a good option for parents who are looking for a more eco-friendly mattress.

Overall, Brentwood Home crib mattresses are a good choice for parents who are looking for a safe, comfortable, and supportive mattress for their baby.

I am very excited to share my thoughts and findings on all three of the Brentwood Home beds for infants and toddlers.  It was a unique opportunity to compare and contrast all of these, especially when my test subject is one year old!  Across the board, these are high-quality products I would be happy to give or receive as a baby gift.

Crib Mattress
Lucas is excited to sleep on the Dandelion mattress by Brentwood Home!

First of all, I like that each mattress is made in the U.S.A. and that the company is focused on the environmental impacts of their products.  All three of the crib beds are environmentally friendly, are free of chemical fire retardants, and feature a waterproof cover on both sides.  They will also last for years, so they are a good investment to pass along for subsequent babies in a family to use.

Here’s Lucas showing off the Poppy (left) and Wildfern (right). You can see they are the same thickness.

If you want a cross of eco-friendly, cost-effective, health-conscious, and comfort, I would recommend the Poppy mattress.  The Poppy mattress sells for $130, making this the most affordable of the three that I reviewed.  It is made of hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial materials, so it is aimed at all of us health-conscious parents out there.  It does feature an infant side and a toddler side of the mattress, but when feeling and smooshing both sides, they really feel about the same.  The Poppy mattress comes rolled up tightly in a box, and quickly expands to its size.  I like that there isn’t too much sound when I moved around on the mattress; the top layer doesn’t make much noise at all.  This is the softest among the three I reviewed.

Here I am unboxing the Dandelion and Wildfern mattress

If getting a very “green” mattress is the most important thing to you, Brentwood Home markets their Dandelion crib mattress as the most eco-friendly mattress that you can find, so that would make it easy for you to pick.  With a price tag of $235, it is the middle of the line of this company’s offerings.  When I walked my hands over this mattress to evaluate the squishing sound it made, this mattress was definitely the loudest of the three in this company’s line.  If you have a little one who is a challenging sleeper, I think minimizing the noise that the mattress makes when he or she tosses and turns is a positive thing, so this is my least favorite of the three.  That being said, it has a minimal environmental impact and when a sheet and mattress cover are on top of the mattress, the sound wasn’t super loud.

Here I am doing a side by side comparison of the Dandelion and Poppy mattress.

The top of the line, the Wildfern, features an  organic coconut husk layer as well as an organic latex layer. This mattress sells for $325.  It is also a dual-sided mattress, with the more firm side for the infant and the more plush side for the toddler, which is the same feature that all three mattresses offer.  The difference between the infant and toddler side is most obvious with this mattress, which is a good thing!

Overall, I would recommend the Poppy mattress.  This mattress is the most affordable and I would say that my son slept equally well on all three, so the most affordable option makes the most sense to me.  I am impressed by the materials used in each mattress  As you would expect, these are very high-quality items and any new mom would appreciate any of the three of them!

Brentwood Home Eco Air Crib Mattress vs Newton

The Brentwood Home EcoAir Luxe Crib Mattress and the Newton Crib Mattress are both popular choices for parents who are looking for a safe and comfortable mattress for their baby. Both mattresses are made with high-quality materials and are designed to provide support and comfort for infants. However, there are some key differences between the two mattresses.

Benefits of the Brentwood Home EcoAir Luxe Crib Mattress:

  • Breathable: The EcoAir core is made with recyclable PETE (polyethylene terephthalate), which is a breathable material. This helps to reduce the risk of suffocation and keeps your baby cool and comfortable while they sleep.
  • Waterproof and dust mite resistant: The EcoAir mattress is waterproof and dust mite resistant, which helps to protect your baby from allergens and spills.
  • Dual-sided: The EcoAir mattress is dual-sided, with a softer side for infants and a firmer side for toddlers. This means that the mattress can grow with your child and provide them with the support they need at each stage of development.
  • Organic: The EcoAir mattress has a GOTS certified organic cotton cover. This is a good option for parents who are looking for a more eco-friendly mattress.

How the Brentwood Home EcoAir Luxe Crib Mattress compares to the Newton Crib Mattress:

  • Core: The EcoAir mattress has a PETE core, while the Newton mattress has a polymer core. Both materials are breathable and safe for infants. However, the Newton mattress core is more expensive to produce.
  • Cover: The EcoAir mattress has a GOTS certified organic cotton cover, while the Newton mattress has a polyester cover. Organic cotton is a more sustainable material, but it is also more expensive.
  • Price: The EcoAir mattress is less expensive than the Newton mattress.

Overall, the Brentwood Home EcoAir Luxe Crib Mattress and the Newton Crib Mattress are both good choices for parents who are looking for a safe and comfortable mattress for their baby. The EcoAir mattress is a more affordable option, while the Newton mattress is a more expensive option with a few additional features.

Ultimately, the best way to decide which mattress is right for you is to try them out in person and see which one you prefer.

Which mattress is right for you?

Ultimately, the best way to decide which mattress is right for you is to consider your budget and your needs. If you are looking for a more affordable mattress, the Brentwood Home Juniper Crib Mattress is a good option. If you are looking for a mattress with a pocket coil core, the Pottery Barn Kids Crib Mattress is a good option.

You may also want to consider the following factors when choosing a crib mattress:

  • Firmness: Crib mattresses should be firm to reduce the risk of SIDS.
  • Support: Crib mattresses should provide support for the baby’s spine and neck.

  • Waterproofness: Crib mattresses should be waterproof to protect them from spills.
  • Dust mite resistance: Crib mattresses should be dust mite resistant to protect the baby from allergens.

It is also important to note that crib mattresses should be replaced every 2-3 years, or when they show signs of wear and tear.

  1. Hi there – any problem fitting the Brentwood mattress into your crib? I noticed that they are slightly larger than average.
    Thanks

      • Which crib do you have? We have the Pottery Barn Kendall crib (crib platform length 51″) and I’m not sure if the Poppy will fit… Thanks!

        • I really want to hear what crib she has, because by crib is 52 1/2 inches by 28 inches and I am wondering if I will every be able to put sheets or mattress protector on the mattress in the crib. It is so tight…I am a first time mom though, so I am not sure if that is right…

  2. Hi Laura,

Do you think the infant side of Poppy is firm enough for a newborn? You said both sides seem soft, so I worry about too much sink-age. Thanks!

Since they created the crib mattress they can speak more authoritatively on the construction. In order for a crib mattress to be sold in the USA, it must pass certain safety tests. That said, I am not aware of any firmness tests for a crib mattress in the United States.

Australia/New Zealand have a standard for mattress firmness (AS/NZS 8811.1:2013) you may want to check to see if it has passed this test or if they have done testing to this standard.

  3. Hi Sarah, I agree with Ben- check with the company for specifics, but in my “mom opinion” yes, it is firm enough for an infant!! 🙂 Thanks!
