Avocado is best known for its all-natural adult mattress which has multiple organic certifications. It only makes sense that they would use some of the same materials for a crib mattress. With the Avocado Crib Mattress, you get natural wool, cotton, and latex in a two-sided design. One side is soft for toddlers and the other is firm for babies. This extends the useful life of the mattress and when it comes time to dispose of it, you have peace of mind knowing that the natural materials will decompose and not live in a landfill for thousands of years.
Overview of the Avocado Crib Mattress

How Much Does the Avocado Crib Mattress Cost?
This model costs $300. You can also purchase the Avocado Luxe Crib Mattress which retails for $1,249. The difference between the two is that the Luxe model contains cotton wrapped coils. It’s not a big difference but it will make the luxe mattress feel more like a traditional mattress and may provide more comfort to toddlers.

Intended for use from year one up to year four, the Toddler side of our Organic Crib Mattress is slightly more plush, while still providing the support your growing child needs as they move and fidget throughout the night. It features a supportive layer of 100% GOLS organic certified latex, plus an additional quilted pattern of 100% GOTS organic certified cotton for added breathability and buoyancy. Cotton-wrapped coils and reinforced coco-fiber perimeters ensure superior support all the way to the edge.
My Avocado Crib Mattress Findings and Recommendation
Most expecting parents receive a crib mattress during a baby shower as part of their baby shower registry. But this limits you to stores like, Target, Walmart and Pottery Barn which will have a limited selection. Yes, the have some good budget choices but your baby will be spending the vast majority of their time sleeping on this mattress so it makes sense not to skimp. $300 is a lot for a crib mattress but you can expect them to sleep on this through their toddler years and there’s no reason it couldn’t be passed on to new cousins in the family when you are done with it.
When you order your Avocado you also get a free copy of their book, Little Blue Planet. Again, a great add on when giving or receiving this as a gift.
This mattress comes with a 30-night trial. Just make sure you keep it clean which is why I also recommend adding the crib mattress protector which is made from multiple layers of organic cotton. While not waterproof, it will provide a layer of protection to help keep the mattress clean. It’s machine washable and easy to attach.
Overall the Avocado Crib mattress is my favorite all-natural crib mattress for parents that want the best for their child. Most parents are feeding their children organic food and outfitting them in organic clothing so it just makes sense that they sleep on an all-natural sleep surface like the Avocado Crib Mattress.
